Hi all, am completely new to IndiaMike, in fact my first time ever ona forum so big hello to all!
have trawled the NP forum but can't find the answer to my question so...
I'd like to travel from Delhi over to the park but am getting a bit confused in how to get there. I fly over to Delhi next Friday, so guess will stay for the night and then I;d like to head out the city. Could anyone give me any travel advice or tips on places to stay (of the more penny pinching variety).
Thanks all! All help gratefully received.

(India-Nepal border, Uttar Pradesh, India ),...having said tht,....fly frm delhi to Lucknow( major city and capital of state uttar pradesh),....frm lucknow, u can take a taxi, or rail to, Doodhwa,...The best point to start your park trip is at the Dudhwa Forest Office, where you can get information from the foresters about everything ranging from accommodation to safaris. The entire park is administratively divided into nine ranges of which only Sathiana, Bankati, Sonaripur, Salukhapur, Belrayan and Kila have accommodation facilities. ,.......let me know in case you need more help,..cheers

Wow, thanks Shishir for the quick reply - thats great!
You wouldn;t happen to know if it is ok to just turn up at the park office and ask for a room or do I need to book accommodation in advance? Also, do they give u a lift to the different sections?
(Sorry, these probably seem like stupid questions, its just that I have a burning desire to go and little knowledge.)

Finally... I think flying is a little expensive for me but I know there are trains to Lucknow from Delhi so no problem there, however I found out (for myself!) that there are trains from Delhi that run to somewhere called Bareilly which is near to the park. I thought maybe I could stay the night there, look around and then head for the park by bus/taxi? Do you think this would be a good alternative to Lucknow? I'd really like to avoid big cities for a while)

Thanks again for all your help. Been checking out the rest of this site - its like coming across treasure!

Try From Delhi (via Bareilly and Shahjehanpur): 450 km,...it would be difficult to hitch hike, or use lift,...but if u do get lucky, u might, less probablity,..and try n avoid that,..http://www.dudhwanationalpark.org/map.aspx,

Also why only Doodhwa, is there a particular reason, for visiting, coz generally, not many people will go explore that area,...i will try n find the phone no. for the district forest offficer, and wld try n see, if accomadation is available,...u can hire a tent frm delhi, cld help u wit tht,..juss in case u fall out on staying options,..
