Hi there!

A friend of mine (he is a foreigner) and I are planning to visit Tadoba around mid December this year. I have a couple of questions around the booking the safaris and accommodation. I got a quote from a resort but it doesn't match online info.

a) I have been quoted Rs 5600 and told that is higher than the usual Rs. 3500 or so, because we have a foreigner in the group. Is that true? Because, as per this source - http://tadoba-national-park.com/, it is not the case. I tried looking up through MHTDC but got thoroughly confused.

b) The online mode of booking the safaris seems to be broken, how else can I got about it?

c) We are thinking of staying at Kolara to avoid crowds. Are there any decent budget accommodations in that area? Online search pointed towards Chava Kolara who have quoted Rs. 4000 per night. This fair bit over our budget as we are travelling (hmmmm) budget?

Any help in this regard is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would be really grateful if you could provide the details of the travel agency you booked with. I have been trying to book through the website for past few days, no luck :-(

a) the cahrges are higher for Foregners. that is true

b) Online Safari booking for Todoba is here Its working propoerly. But I think it will be difficult for you to book Tadoba now. There is no Tatkal type of booking there. And without Jungle entry booking you can not go inside core area. Buffer is possible on the spot. Core not possible. If not Tadoba then you can plan to go to Umred Karhandla in December. Same jungle and good sightings every day there. Its nearer than Tadoba from Nagpur.

c) Try MTDC at Kolara if you can book Safari entry. decent accommodation. But Govt property. you can not expect private resort type service.

Please let me know if any other problems. Will try to find solution.

regards

nitinule and didindia7, thank you both for your assistance. I have decided to go ahead with Mr Alok from Chava Kolara.
I hope to update this post with ground details once I am there.

Chhava Kolara is good resort. Try to take Ramrao nevare guide over there. He will be at the Kolara gate (He has good knowledge of Jungle and Flora & Fauna. Tiger sighting is pure luck.)

Do not take colourful clothes. Animals run away when tourists wear highlighted bright clothes. try to wear green camouflage clothes. Temperature will be 3 to 4 degree. better take good woollen clothes, gloves, and woollen monkey cap is must.
All the best.

HI,

I have visited Umred but want to visit it. So I have created a thread here.

Please ask your questions there so that people will try to help you.

I will ask my friends and will get back to you on that thread if there are any updates.

Thanks and sorry

Nitin
