Hello,
We are a group of around 15 wildlife enthusiasts from all over the country planning a trip to Pench National Park in Madhya Pradesh.

The purpose of this trip would be to get a first hand account of the flora and fauna there, to see the FD infrastructure there and to also visit the villages in and around the national park and talk to the people who are often the victims/reasons for the human-wildlife conflict.

I am looking for the following details:

1. Information about budget accommodation at Pench NP
2. Information about any villages inside the national park
3. Information about any issues that you have come across when you visited there
4. Information about anyone who might be able to help us there
5. Information about any NGOs working in the area

Any information other than this would also be of help. Thanks

Smile Additional Information

Hey there need to tell you something that most of the locals know - the Pench National Park (MP) is divided into two parts - first part is in Maharashatra and is known as Pench Tiger Reserve
and second part is in MP known as Karmazari. Both are open to tourist / visitors. If you have a valid permission then you can move from within the jungle from Maharashtra to MP.
1. Pench Tiger Reserve (Maharashatra) also has a dam known as Totladoh which provided water to Nagpur District. The backwater extendes to Karmazari, MP.

2. Your Query Information about budget accommodation at Pench
My Suggestion (Most of the trourist hotels in Karmazari, MP are bit expensive starting from anything Rs. 2000/- exlduding food). (Secondly, you also need to know the following - the jungle entry opens at 5.30 / 6.00 am in the morning and closes at 11.00 / 12.00 am then the gate re-opens at 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm. That means you can go inside the restricted area in at 5.30 / 6.00 am in the morning and had to come out at 11.00 / 12.00 am at the entry gate again you can enter the jungle at 2.00 pm and had to come out to entry gate by 6.00 pm.

Since you are not a local resident you may probably hire taxi / or open Gypsy. The cost of one trip is follows:
1. Fees per person for one time entry - Rs. 200/- (approx.)
2. Hiring of Gypsy - Rs. 1000/- (depneds on day and ur bargain)
3. Guide Charges - Rs. 100 / 200.
4. Nobody except the forest personnel are allowed to walk in the forest during the trip. so you can only be seated in the taxi/ gypsy.
5. To move within the forest are in close hours you need have special permission from the Forest department.)

2. Your Query - Information about any villages inside the national park
My Suggestion There are two to three entry points in Karmazari, MP. First is Turia, Second is Karmazari and thrid one i really don't remember the name. These are all village and one can move around them. These villages are part of National Park but not the reserved area. Anyway, Karmazari village also has a river running around the side of village.

3. Your Query - Information about any issues that you have come across when you visited there.
My Suggestion Avoid Weekends - there heavy rush of tourist and rates are high during these period. ALso these jungles are closed during raining season (June-Oct.). Summers are very-very hot really very hot

4. Your Query - Information about anyone who might be able to help us there
My Suggestion I may help personally if you contact me on my mail. I will give you mobile number of the personnel who can help you

5. Your Query - Information about any NGOs working in the area My SuggestionI don't know about this

OTHER DETAILS- You can stay in Pench Tiger Reserve (Maharashatra)in forest guest house / irrigation guest house. Its not expensive will all facilities. Any during day time can move around the forest. It is also surrounded by villages. From this location you can also move to Karmazari, MP via road

Smile Information You Sought

Hi there , this is nik

Firstly let me tell you something Pench National Park in Madhya Pradesh is actually divided into two parts one is in Maharashtra known as Pench Tiger Reserve and second is in Madhya Pradesh known as Karmazari. If you happen to land in Nagpur which bylarge is presently the best option to reach these Jungles. Then on way Karmazari, Madhya Pradesh you will first come across Pench Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra.

There are 2-3 entry points inside the restricted area like Turia Gate, Karmazari Gate and third one i don't remember. Anyway these are all village attached to the restricted area. The Main Entry point usually if you are coming from Nagpur is Turia Gate.
Most of the hotels here are bit expensive and charges vary from season to season. The cahrges are like anything from Rs. 2000/- upwards excluding food. However, theres forest resthouse/ domatry at Karmazari Gate which is very-very affordable and food is also available on demand. Morover, the Karmazari village is stayable location and accompanied by river.

Moving inside the restricted area is bit expensive since you may not have you own vehicle (only 4 wheeler allowed). I cost per trip inside the restricted area is as under:
1. Entry fees per person per trip - Rs. 200/- approx.
2. Hiring of gypsy per trip - Rs. 1000/- (depends on ur bargain)
3. Guide Hiring - Rs. 200/- (compulsory)

The gate for restricted area opens around 5.30/6.00 am and closes around 11.30 am then reopns at 2.30 pm and closed around 6.00 pm.

NGOs Operating in the Areas - Don't Know
Additional Suggestion - Avoid Weekends, very very crowded.

You can also move around Karmazari, Madhya Pradesh to Pench Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra if you have valid permission. Pench Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra is also having a dam known as totladoh, the back water of the dam extends in Karmazari Jungle, Madhya Pradesh.
