We are going to be staying at the Rawla Narlai in late March 2011 and wondered if the nearby Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary was worth a visit? If so, do they have set times for safaris? Can you use your vehicle or do you have to use their vehicle? We have a car and driver. What is the cost to do a safari in this park? I've heard you can also walk or do a horseback ride in the park. Please advise. Thanks

Narob,

I was in Kumbalgarh about 2 months ago and the fort is a great place to visit as it is huge and the boundary walls are very long. It also makes a great picture at night when they light it up (for all of 10 minutes). If you go inside the fort to take pictures in the night lights be sure to have a flashlight or something because the idiots will shut the lights off without much warning and it is dark and I fell twice trying to get out.

I did the jeep safari from one of the guys opposite the hotel and it was I think about 1000 rupees to rent the jeep for a 3 hour early evening safari...in my opinion it wasn't good or worth it because all you see are monkeys and they said a good portion of the park was closed then due to animals breeding etc. The one place didn't offer horseback or walking safaris.
