Back from India and Corbett

We had a great time in India and the best time with Ramesh in Corbett! We did see our tiger! It happened so quickly the photos are not the greatest, I will post them later. We did see two sloth bears, which are apparently and an even more rare sight! We did not see the tiger cubs but we did see a lot of cub paw prints in the sand which was still very exciting.

It depends on what you are after, if it is the wildlife experience spend as long on safari as possible! The elephant safari is well worth doing, it is usually 2hours so you can fit in a jeep safari as well on the same day. Every safari is different and you will see and experience new things on every one. The key is where you stay and getting a really good guide.

Tripsammy, I forgot to tell you that I forwarded this thread to some relatives who went through it and had a wonderful trip at Corbett. It was some time ago but I remembered now after seeing the thread on top of the home page.

mm, what does it means different? I have been in Chatvan in Nepal and there were only one what u can will see:a herd of rhinos on during elephant safari)))) and it`s all for can suggetst wildlife. Also I had brillant experiens with "elephant`s bath", but it`s alredy not wildlif))) ..Indeed, we cuod take only 2 day from 3 and it was enough for impressions.
What kind of experiens are there in Corbett? If you stay more longer you can see more reah wildlife? And every day we shoud go to different direction?
And we hope stay at Dhikala Resort.

The longer you stay the more you will see. If possible stay for 2 or 3 days in both Dhikala and Bijrani zones.
If you only have a few days available to you stay overnight at Dhikala as this is the only decent way to see the Dhikala setting.
The only other option to see Dhikala is by Canter safari and they are not so good.

Bijrani IMHO is every bit as good as Dhikala for tigers
Jhirna also has loads of wildlife but because of the dense cover there it is much harder to spot.

The elephant safaris are 2 hours long and cost 1000 rupees per person. These are available from Bijrani and Dhikala Forest lodges. They are very popular and hard to get.
Apart from the few domesticated elephants for tourists to enjoy for elephant rides all other creatures are wild. Corbett is a very wild place. The fences around the forest rest houses are the only fences there are. The wild elephants and Tigers come and go as they please
