Could anyone recommend top spots for birding in Dehradun especially in winter? I am currently in Dehradun until the 18th January and have so far visited Assan Barrage and Eco-Park in Dhanauti. I did get some good photographs but only had very few sightings of woodland birds. I have spotted woodpecker, grey hornbill, Black Kite and a couple of other small birds. Are bird sightings more occassional or frequent during Spring and Summer? Also could anyone recommend a bird watching guide that can be hired for the day only?

You have been to assan so not much is left to recommend. Your best bet now is to go to chilla range.
If you find my posts confrontationist, please bear, I am an old frustrated guy who has nothing better to do than sit on rocking chair and curse the world whole day
