Hi,

I normally go with my regular guy...He has Chevrolet Tavera. Decent condition. He charges 11 to 12/- Rupees per Kilometer (Non AC). (Check rates. Depends on availability)
If you want Air Condition Toyota Innova then you can ask him to organise. AC Car will be at little extra.

Use the route from the link I have given below. Thats the shortest Route from Nagpur to Moharli Tadoba. Some 145KM one way. Every Taxi driver charges for return kilometers. So you will have to pay for approx 300 KM. Approx 3200 one way.

My persons name is Ravi and his nuber is +918237994051 / +91 80 55 730554

Use this route while going. Ravi knows this route very well. But in case he sends his another driver then navigate by the above given route. This route crosses through Tadoba Buffer Area. I have seen many animals on this route like Sloth Bear and leopard.

Just open this ROUTE on Google Map and start navigation.

All the Best!

Nitin

Yes it does but you will have to contact them and transfer the money. Then only they will do the needful. Better you talk to DFCM at Moharli .. Will try and give you numbers if my friends have. Or you can search google.

I wish to visit Tadoba this April 13-16th. Some queries:

1. Which is better MTDC or FDCM accommodation?

2. How far is Pangdi and Kolsa from MTDC/FDCM properties? Will the Gypsies ask extra charge for these? There seem to only Pangdi/Kolsa and others are all fully booked but for one session.

3. If all routes are available, which is the best one?

4. If I have a confirmed FDCM accommodation is my safari guaranteed?

Thanks!

HI drgrudge,

Sorry for late reply. I was in Kanha.

1. Which is better MTDC or FDCM accommodation?
MTDC is any day better. New rooms are awesome. FDCM mainly give tents and cheap dormitories mainly for very low budgets trips and school picnics. . Rooms are OK just to solve stay purpose. AC rooms are good but very small.

2. How far is Pangdi and Kolsa from MTDC/FDCM properties? Will the Gypsies ask extra charge for these? There seem to only Pangdi/Kolsa and others are all fully booked but for one session.

NO.. You can stay at MTDC or FDCM Moharli and enter from Zari gate. BUt from Moharli you will have to hire a private vehicle to reach ZAri gate. YOu can use this route by using google map (Route) If you have Gate Entry permit then you will get Gypsy over there along with Guide and Driver. 6 people per Gypsy. BUt from Zari you can visit Kolsa Range of Tadoba. Which is also rich in wildlife and also Beautiful. But you can not come to Moharli or Tadoba range from ZAri. Its different range.

3. If all routes are available, which is the best one?
There is nothing called Best.. All routes and habitat is same. You can enter from any gate and go to any corner of the jungle. all animals everywhere.. but sightings are by luck only. But I would suggest stay at Moharli gate if you gate entry tickets of Moharli. That gate is better as Telia lake is next to Moharli and chances of good sightings are more near Telia lake.

4. If I have a confirmed FDCM accommodation is my safari guaranteed?
If you book FDCM then they allow a Gypsy for you. (Not sure now. Please check it with Mr. Zomade) But you will have to contact them and transfer the money. then they will book a Gypsy safari from Government quota. will give you more information on this today.

regards,

Nitin

Thanks Nitin. Much appreciated.

All the safari routes are full other than Pangdi/Kolsa (even on weekdays). Now only option is FCDM cottages and hope for safaris from Government quota.

1. How to go about doing this?
2. How is the buffer zone safari? Does it cost as much as going to the core are for doing safari?

[QUOTE=drgrudge;1942213]Thanks Nitin. Much appreciated.

1. How to go about doing this?
From FDCM Pagdi is not possible. Zari is possible but 165 Kilometers. You will have to hire a separate vehicle from MTDCX Moharli or FDCM Moharli

2. How is the buffer zone safari? Does it cost as much as going to the core are for doing safari?
Buffer safaris are cheaper and on the spot booking. (Now on same Website) Lot of people get good tiger sightings in buffer also. Buffer is also rich in animals. you can try for Devada buffer or agarzari buffer or Junona buffer if you are stayinn near Moharli (Dont book Kolara, Alijanjha, Navegao if you are staying Moharli. Kolara Navegao Alijhanja are North end of tadoba). Both good area belong to Waghdoh Male Tiger and his two families with cubs. but try for Core area first.

You can also try Bus ride in core area. Booking is on the spot. (Now from Chandrapur office) Just go early. Bus stays half an hour extra in the core area in the evening. so more chances for sightings.

All the best

Yes.. That is Junona buffer. That used to be home of Waghdoh Male but now he is in Devada buffer. Junona buffer is good jungle. Also new male has been sighted last week. So you can try it if you do not get core area or you dont want to go away from MTDC. Devada and Agarzari buffer are away and on the way to Chandrapur.

Thanks Nitin. On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate chance for a tiger sighting in the core during the last week of March

Sighting is pure by Luck.. I would say I will give 7 out of 10 for the sightings in March.
In last one year I did Tadoba, Pench, Nagzira, Umred, Ranthambhor and just got back from Kanha today morning at 6:00AM. I have not seen a single Tiger in any of theses trips in last one year. So it was just bad luck..

Tiger sightings is purely by luck.

Shucks. That's sad. I know the feeling and have my fingers crossed. Nights at the MTDC are a favourite of mine so I'm looking forward to that too.
The last time I was there 2 years back we were returning back to Mumbai on a Tuesday afternoon and as the morning was free I took a stroll to the buffer zone gate. The watchman there conversationally told me that he sees the tiger there on many a morning and in fact had seen it that day too, but at 0600 and at the time it was 1000. My God, was I jittery returning all alone. Returned without incident but that was really one of the scariest moments of my life.

I have seen Waghdoh male from the watch tower inside FDCM property. Didn't have camera .. I was just talking a walk after lunch and was exploring FDCM property. FDCM staff said tigers are frequent over there at the waterhole. From this watchtower
