1. The plan is to reach around 18th June and stay for 3 nights. Is mid-june a good weather for TATR? Or will it be too rainy? This may not be the right thread, but if not TATR, can you suggest which other Tiger reserve is good for visiting in mid-June?

Weather will be OK. Can be hot sometimes. I visit Tadoba every year in June as well. Not so rainy. You can visit Pench also in June. Pench is cool as tall saal trees everywhere

2. We will be travelling with 4 kids ranging from 1 year to 7 years old. Is this weather a good time to take them to TATR?

No problem with kids. They will enjoy the most. But make sure you train them to keep.quite in jungle or it becomes like Zoo and it disturbs other Tourists mainly the Photographes. Even I take kids but I have somehow managed to keep them kool and quite in jungle.

3. I am keen on staying at MTDC. But on an earlier post, I read about scropions in June! Is MTDC then safe with children? If not, which other hotel would one recommend?

MTDC is best deal. And beautiful also. Scorpions are everywhere in Chandrapur District. Under all small stones. . Its their land actually . You just have to take care. It's jungle and MTDC is in the middle of jungle. There is mahua trees inside MTDC property and Sloth bears come to eat sweet mahua flowers at night. I have seen 4 Tigers from the MTDC property itself in the lake next to the rooms.

4. We will be 6 adults and 4 kids. Will we be allowed in one gypsy or do we need to book two?
Not at all possible. They will not allow so many people in one Gypsy. The rule is 6 people per Gypsy. You can take one extra small kid below 5 years but not so many. They are very very strict. Book two Gypsy tickets or there will be problem at the gate. It will be mess. Always tey to book whole trip for 6 8 or 12 people.

I am going next week from 18 to 23. Will update few more things. This will be my 15th trip to Tadoba.

Many thanks in advance,
Zany.[/QUOTE]

As per advice from traveller55, I looked up the website , only zone available for 12/03 ( evening) is Tadoba - Alizanza Zone , as I am staying in MTDC, Moharli , will it be easier to reach this zone ? Should I take the canter safari in core zone or buffer zone jeep?

Alizanza is buffer area not zone.
open Mini bus is there which you can take from Moharli gate if you staying at MTDC.
If you dont get ticket for Bus safari then talk to some Gypsy guy in advance so that he can line up your gypsy at the buffer gate of Devada or Agarzari.

Alizanza is away from Moharli i think Not sure

Alijhanja entry gate is 15 kms from Kolara. It is entry to buffer zone of Navegaon (of course you can enter this zone also from Navegaon gate).

Alijhanja is far away from Moharli

Back from tadoba yesterday , total had 5 safaris , 2 in buffer Agarzari & Devada , rest from Mohurli gate. Tiger sightings have been less frequent comparatively during this time and I was carrying a worst luck of reaching 5 mins too late or early. I had good sightings of Madhuri's cubs at Agarzari and finally in my last day last safari met Choti tara, its 2 cubs and her mate Matkasur. Alls well that ends well. Also the forest was beautiful , green and spring bloom of palash all around and the full moon nights over the Irai lake was magical and captivating. Eagerly waiting for the next chance to be in tadoba. The real USP of tadoba are its people- simple and hospitable.cheers.

Planning to travel on June 3rd week

Planning to travel Tadoba on June 3rd week.
1. I might travel alone. Is that advisable?
2. Is it ok to share the gypsy/safari slot booked by me with the travelers who are looking for seats at last minutes
3. I am planning to have minimum 5 safaris in core area. Is that a good number?
4. Can i expect rainfall during June 3rd week?

My challenge is if I indeed go alone 5 safaris may be a tad expensive for me. So I am planning to/ willing to share the slot with like minded travelers if there are slots in Gypsy. Any suggestions for that?

Thanks in advance

1. I might travel alone. Is that advisable?
It is not advisable as the only reason is it will be Costly for you. In Tadoba you have to pay for Full Gypsy. So it is better you tag along with someone or get some friends with you so the cost of the Gypsy Safari (3600 total) will get divided. If money is not a problem then please go ahead. You will enjoy the Tadoba. Its real peace of mind. Also the people are really nice.

2. Is it ok to share the gypsy/safari slot booked by me with the travelers who are looking for seats at last minutes.
Actually you cant. they count the number of people in the Gypsy and on the entry ticket. If you book the safari for only you then you wont be able to add anyone at the gate. Suggestion is put 6 names of your friends and CARRY THEIR IDENTITY CARDS WITH YOU. (they check ID cards at gate) So you can take few people with you in Gypsy from the Entry gate and show the Identity cards of the people who are mentioned on the entry ticket. They just check the number of people and the identity cards should match the name on ticket.. So if you add more people while booking tickets then it is possible to add people at the last moment.

3. I am planning to have minimum 5 safaris in core area. Is that a good number?
There is nothing like good number. I was there last month. I did 6 safaris. I got to see Tigers and many more action. But there was a family who had come for only one safari. They got to the tigers like i have never seen. They also dint have camera but all recorded on cheap mobile. They got to see a Kill by Tiger. so it is all about luck. I think 6 safaris should be enough to have good jungle experience. I do minimum 6 and maximum 8.

4. Can i expect rainfall during June 3rd week?
I always go in same season as the animal movement is maximum. it rains at night sometimes. but pleasant in evening. Morning safari can be little hot after 9:00Am
In Vidharbha rains starts late.

My challenge is if I indeed go alone 5 safaris may be a tad expensive for me. So I am planning to/ willing to share the slot with like minded travelers if there are slots in Gypsy. Any suggestions for that?

I plan every year Tadoba in june.. But this year I am going to RTR on 31st MAy. Do let me know your plan on message. Lets see if I get leave from office. rest try and ask your friends if they are intersted

I was in Tadoba last week. Saw too much of action. Not much tigers this time but other sightings were once in a life time. Have seen Wild dogs killing hunting twice. Leopards , Tigress swimming Telia lake and many more. Missed matkasur and Maya this time ... But got Tara with her cubs. Good frames.
