OK, so I've been through all the steps to buy an e-ticket. When it comes to paying, the only solution that seems to be ok for me, ICICI Payment, says "not international credit cards"

On clicking ICICI Payment Gateway, you can do transactions with all Master and Visa Credit Cards (Not International Credit Cards) issued by any bank.

I can use a Visa or Mastercard but nothing else so what do I do/use?

Thanks so much!

What site are you talking about? IRCTC, an airline, or another site?

If IRCTC, then international cards are no problem. I used mine just yesterday. But I have found recently that ICICI does not seem to accept my card any more - I have started using the Citibank gateway.

Sorry, I didn't mention site as I posted on the rail sub-forum, but yes, I was talking about IRCTC.

You say you use the Citibank option, however I do not have a Citibank Credit Card, would that work?

My turn to apologise - I only pick threads up from the home page, so missed the fact that it was in the Railways forum.

You don't need a Citibank card to use the Citibank option on IRCTC - it's just a gateway, like ICICI (and the other one, which I forget).

I always used ICICI until recently, but it then began rejecting my credit card so I tried Citibank out of desperation and it worked. Give it a go.

Incidentally, I contacted IRCTC to ask them why my card had failed four times via ICICI, and they told me that my bankers had refused authorisation on every occasion and that there must be "some deficiency" with my account. My bankers, however, have said that they did not receive any requests for authorisation, so it seems to be a problem at the Indian end... yet again.

I have the same problem as Mickey: I used to go through ICICI until recently when it began to play up. It asked for my credit card number although I had put it in already. I use Citibank now. The other gateway (HDFC or so?) did not work for me.

Got the e-tickets!

THanks all for your help! I finally manadged to get my india rail e-tickets, what a satisfaction after so many failed attempts. I don't know if I dreamt this, but I don't even think the Citibank gateway was available this morning when I first tried, only the debit card portal. Anyway, it appeared later and I was able to make my payments.

Thanks again for your help.
