You can check in www.indiarailinfo.com. Put the train number and click on details. It will show you the location of the coaches.

The distance between them is not rocket science as there are no AC coaches between them.

Aarosh advice/link above will give you the coach layout.

Compared with Indian Railways, rocket science is easy, I bet there's quite a few people who completely understand rocket science, but I'm sure not 1 single person completely understands Indian Railways.

An example, I was on a train that had UR, UR, S1, S2, S3, B1, B2, A1, UR, UR, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, B3, B4, A2, UR, UR.

It was that train that used to from Kolhapur to both Hyderabad and Tirupati, spliting at Guntakal I think, not sure if the train still runs.

On many occations I've seem the Sleeper Class cariages split by air con carriages, even on 'single journey' trains (that don't split).

Yes Steven, True. But for the OP's train route there are no such complications.

BTW, that is Rayalaseema Express and yes, it used to get split at Guntakal and hence had that arrangement where they had UR and AC in the middle. Now however they have created a separate train for Kolhapur from Hyderabad and Haripriya from Tirupati.
