I will be traveling with a 4 year old. The IRCTC site does not let you enter information for a passenger under the age of 5 (because they do not get their own seat/berth). Is there anything I need to do to somehow indicate that we will have a 4 year child with us? If yes, then how? Or do we just show up with all the reserved passengers and the 4 year old?
Thanks.

Inform the TTE when he comes to check the tickets, other than that, there's nothing you can do.

You can add the child's details if you buy a ticket over the counter in India, but not online.

If you've purchased 1A or FC tickets and want a 2 berth coupe, you can request one when you get to the departure station (if it's the train's originating station), but you need to apply a day before the train is due to depart, and there's no guarentee.

If you want a seat/berth for your 4 year old, just say they're 5, but you'll have to pay the childs rate (50% of the adult rate).

Thanks. I did do what you say about the age. We're doing several trips and depending upon the trip, there will be 4, 5 or 6 of us (including the 4 year old in all cases). We're traveling by 1AC, so I have shown her age to be 5 for trips with 4 or 6 passengers so that we get the 4 berth compartment and a 2 berth coupe. For the trip with 5 passengers, I reverted to her actual age so that we can get the 4 berth compartment.
