My first time to use !

Visiting India in two weeks time and wanting to travel by day train from Mysore on or about 28 February thursday to get to Hospet ... can have one overnight stop.

Don't want to have overnight travel.

Great if someone could help.

Thanks

Hi,

It looks like there is one direct train on 28 Feb from Mysore to Hospet, the Hampi Express, train number 16952.

There is availability in both A/C 2 class and A/C 1 class for 28th Feb at the moment.

The problem is that it is an overnight journey, from 7pm to 7.10am.

You could take Jaipur Express 12975 to Guntakal Junction, departing 10.20am, arriving 7.15 pm, overnight in hotel, and continue on next morning by train 11303, Mugr Kop Express, departing at 07.20am and arriving at Hospet at 10.05am.

The Jaipur Express runs on Thursdays and Saturdays only.

The MYS to SNSI Express 16217 runs only on Monday from Mysore, but it is a daytime train: Departs 05.30am, arriving Hospet at 16.55pm same day.

Hope this is some help, but be aware that buying tickets online requires you to register first, and trains do get booked up far in advance in India!

Other options could be:

Take a train # 82653 from Bangalore (departing 11:30) to Bellary (arriving 18:53) (around 60 kms from Hampi) and then taxi to Hampi. Confirmed seats available in 3A.

Take a train # 16229 from Mysore to (departing 7:20) to Bellary (arriving 18:15) and then taxi to Hampi. Seats in RAC now. RAC ensures that you travel on the train, however you will have to share a seat with another passenger.

Both the trains status are for the 28th of February.

Hi Rambling,

Thanks for your help ..we managed to book the jaipur Express confirmed to Guntakal Junction arriving 7.15 pm. thursday 28 February.

Tried looking for Hotels to stay at in Guntakal but nothing seems to come up ... not even on Trip Advisor.

Is there another name for the place ?

We plan somehow to travel from Guntakal the next morning early and get to Hampi for a few days ..

What train would we get to Hospet or should we get some sort of Taxi ?

Then plan to train it to Goa on or about monday 4 March .. any clues there ?

Sorry to burden you with these questions ...

Regards

Geoff

There are retiring rooms at the station which you can book. Otherwise have a look at Hotel Ashoka Paradise or Vasavi Tourist Home. There are quite a few hotels in Guntakal.

The train number 11303, Mugr Kop Express, departing Guntakal at 07.20am and arriving at Hospet at 10.05am would be one option for onward travel.

The best direct option for travel to Goa (Madgaon Station) from Hospet is train number 17603 leaving Hospet at 06.20am and arriving Madgaon at 13.55pm Train runs Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays only.

(The above train is added onto train number 18047, so if you cannot find availability in train number 17603, try booking in 18047, as it is the same train!)

I used https://etrain.info/in to find the train info, you can use this for info and availability. (If you leave the date out, it shows all trains per week, if you fill the date in, it just shows that day's trains...)

Questions and answers are the oxygen that drives Indiamike, so ask away!
