Hi 1st time i've booked rail tickets today, all was going ok until when the confirmation email came through my girlfriend had a space confirmed and I had been placed on a waiting list even though I booked them at the same time-

How do I proceed from here I don't fancy waving her off from delhi to varanasi on her own???? How do I make sure I get the same train and beat this crazy waiting list s@@t - i wouldn't have booked it if i'd known this might happen

Please help

Billy

There is a thread here on waitlists which should help you.

(Edit, here it is: http://www.indiamike.com/india/india...e-only-t56727/ )

If your girlfriend's ticket is confirmed, my guess is your waitlist number will be very low (maybe even 1). If so, chances are very good the reservation will be confirmed, especially if your date of travel is sometime away.

Check your reservation for your waitlist number. And, if it gets confirmed, do check that you and your girlfriend have been allotted berths close to each other.

You can always cancel the tickets if you don't want to take the chance.

We can answer questions you didn't even think to ask, but we need details.

Give us the PNR number (you'll find it near the top of your ticket), we can get all the info from that.

If not comfortable giving the PNR, then train number, class, date and BOTH waitlist numbers will be needed.

WL1 (if traveling in 1AC) should get confirmed and you should be seated together, WL1 in another class means potentially big problems, as no RAC number (because ticket went direct to waitlist) normally means a pooled quota waitlist (PQWL), and that can sometimes mean problems, also, because the first cancellation goes to your ticket, it's very likely that you'll be seated apart, maybe even different carriages.

There's no need for any potential problems on this route, it's easy enough to get confirmed berths (less so in 1A).
