can you safely change your IRCTC account?

Hi there,
I set up my IRCTC account and after some reminders from my side they activated it, no problem!
However, before I leave for India, my passport and email will be changed and I will buy an Indian mobile card to get around over there. Is there any way you can change these things in your account without them getting all confused about it, or shouldn't I bother. Are these informations essential for buying tickets?
Thanks!

The passport number can be used by the ticket examinator to control if it is indeed your ticket. In most cases they don't do this and I never heard of any problem.
The phone number is only interesting if you want SMS messages from the IRCT, we never used that option.
If you have booked all your tickets in advance the email address is neither important. For booking new tickets you can change the mail-address in your IRCTC profile. Again, never heard about problems with this.

Have a nice journey.

Just what is the situation with Cleartrip?
At the start of this year I could barely see any info about trains on cleartrip and since opening a new IRCTC account the train picturegram has disappeared from the foot of the page.

I am planning to go back to India, next summer. As regards Irctc, I have booked as far as the payment stage and all seems well.
What happens next summer when I actually want tickets could be another story. Any comments?

Greetings,
Homerus.

Homerus, why not go through with a booking to see if you manage to get through the whole thing? A cheap Rs200 sleeper ticket from A to B. That's what I did via Cleartrip a bit back, but I need to book my real tickets soon.

I don't like how suddenly Cleartrip makes me log in and then makes me login to my IRCTC account just to look at the train listings, it never used to do this.

As regards, IRCTC I have gone as far as the payment stage,so I do not think there is a problem.

I was just curious about cleartrip and as to why the train picturegram has gone and obviously I can not book anymore with them.

I suppose I can book a cheap ticket with Irctc, just to be sure but it was cleartrip that prompted me to ask. After all, India is India and you never know, especially after the 2012 buisness.
Thanks for the reply.
Greetings,
Homerus.

I'm not sure about the picturegram thing on Cleartrip, but it's the payment stage over at IRCTC where it goes wrong for me. I ended up going back to Cleartrip, re-registering (making all the details the same as my IRCTC account) and got my ticket pretty quickly.

Download the IRCTC Rail Connect, and erail.info apps. The first for booking directly, and second for all sorts of train info. You could also use 90di App.

App works ! I booked my 1A tickets without grief.
