Too long, 30 minutes here, 20 minutes there, I've been doing it for about 4 months, my head is just spinning. There was more to add, but it was all looking crowded, and sometimes we can give too much info and just confuse people.
Excellent. Brilliant!
Now, what do you want to happen next?
--- leave the thread open for a while, so the other train buffs can give feedback
--- Leave the thread open permanently, which means people will tag on their 'but what about my WL status?
--- Close the thread, and everyone who wants to know what's this WL all about (which is all of us when we first travel on Indian trains) can just use it as reference?
--- Something else?
(you don't have to answer immediately!)

Wow! That's great Steve, I can see it being one of the most visited threads on here.
Would be most use I think as a reference thread, which is updated from time to time, rather than a first post of a long thread.
Just wanted to say well done and thanks for the effort, feel free to delete this if you want to make it a nice clean information only sticky.

Brilliant ! .. Your Dedication and Commitment is extra-ordinary !! ..
Nearer to 6 months of Effort right ?! ... I Still remember the "Biscuit Thread" you started as a "Placeholder" for this write-up and our "Imers" Shared real information on "Biscuits" as such on that thread

It could be a useful article, but could it be an article AND a seperate thread? The reason I ask, there's an endless number of new members come here and post waitlist questions, and we really need these new members to search for the info themselves, most of the info they need will be in the thread/article, moderators could then just add the new questions to the RAC & Waitlist thread, and in the long run, the number of new threads on the subject should slow down.
Or maybe have a sticky re-direct from the Indian Railways forum to the article????
I'll try to complete the RAC extra info in the next 2 days, as this should really be added to the same article.
excellent and well written post.........should be promoted to an article.......

Yes, that's how all the articles are on the site.

Yes, I agree. It would be similar to the links below, where the thread points to the article and vice versa.

That would be awesome. Let me know when you're done, and I will promote it.

I've completed the RAC info and added it to the first post.
You'll need an image for the article, and all I can think of is the following, it would explain exactly what the thread is about.
WL 14/RAC 21
RAC 6/RAC 4
WL 15/WL 3.
AVAILABLE-087
RLWL 12/RLWL 7
PQWL 2/PQWL 2
If you could capture the above as an image, and maybe add the following to the right of it.

I don't know if that can be done, and I've no time to try it myself at the moment.
Or if you can think of something better.....

1 A = ECC on Shatabdi ??
I booked a ticket under IA class for Blore - Chennai Shatabdi (2028).After reading this post I'm a bit confused as my coach number is E1 which I believe refers to Executive Chair Class . So is it really a 1 AC or ECC ? What is the difference ? I have got a "SM" seat no - dont know what that means ?
& yes this is my first 1A /ECC
