@vsp: Hmmmm ... you are of course right! As always on IR matters!! And your conclusion always backed by "hard data" leaves no room for arguments!

I don't know how I goofed on the 25th 1VK .. I might have looked at CC and 2S perhaps and not at SL (thinking it is just a day train) ... Or God Only Knows what I was thinking when making that booking. In fact even the return 2VK on 1-Mar, I have booked FC Anyway, consoling myself, FC was only Rs 202 .... so will enjoy more the beauty of Arakku Vally from FC comforts!

Hope I get a window seat on the right, for 25th.

Dear ks,

##This is for your information.

##As you are aware, there will be Two FC Coaches - One for 1VK and the other one for 2VK. Out of these two, the Windows will face the Valley only in One Coach, whereas in the other Coach, the Windows will face the Hill!!!

##On all the three occasions, the Windows in my FC Coach were facing the Hill and I had to sit on the Door to enjoy the
Valley View.:-)

Hi,

I had booked 2 tickets from Mumbai (Panvel) to Trivandrum on the Trivandrum Rajdhani about 3 weeks back. Class - 2A and the tickets were waitlisted at WL1 and WL2. The travel date is April 1.

Even now, the PNR tracker says the status remains WL1 and WL2..

Could someone tell me the likelihood of these tickets getting confirmed? Thanks.

All 6 tickets are confirmed, you'll be in Sleeper Carriage number 9 (S9) and in berths 9-14, these are 6 berths all together in 1 bay.

PQ doesn't matter now that your tickets are confirmed.

Dear Steven,

##There is something that matters to you, me and Arun.:-)

##9047 runs between Surat and Bhagalpur, which means the end-to-end passengers are covered in GENERAL Quota.

##But, in the instant case, the end-to-end passengers have been booked against the vacancies in Pooled Quota, which means, at that point of time, all the vacancies in GN.Quota MUST have got exhausted.

Hello! This is just another "what is the likelihood" waitlist question. Here are our travel details:

Marudhar Express
Agra Fort-->Varanasi
20-Feb-10 (4 days from now!)
Class: 2A
RLWL/9 RLWL/6
RLWL/10 RLWL/7

I checked out 3A, alternative departure locations and dates--all were either worse or negligible difference.

What is the likelihood of getting a confirmed or RAC seating? I'm OK with RAC--not so comfy if a seat doesn't open up, but at least we'll get to our desired location. If the chances aren't so good, what are some alternatives? We'd really like to leave on that date.

Sorry if this is a repetitive question. There were soooo many queries, I couldn't look through them all.

There's a very high chance your tickets will NOT get confirmed.

So you have a choice, comfort Vs conveniency

First, Tundla station is 22kms from Agra, a taxi would take an hour door to platform.

Train 4006 departs Tundla at 20:29 and gets to Varanasi at 06.15, There are 2 x 3-tier air con tickets remaining for the 20th.

Train 2402 departs Tundla at 23:30 and gets to Mughal Sarai at 07.40, Mughal Sarai is about 18kms from Varanasi, there are 4 tickets remaining in 2-tier air con.

HOWEVER, both the 2A tickets (2402) and the 3A tickets (4006) are on th e foreign tourist quota, and can only be booked from the foreign tourist desk at a large Indian city, Delhi (New Delhi station, first floor, ignore any touts), Jaipur (Jaipur station) or Agra (Agra Cant station), as well as other stations.

Vibhuti 2333 RAC6

Don't want to start a new thread so here goes. I have a RAC6 for the Vibhuti Ex. 2333 on AC3 Tier (3A) booked through cleartrip. Traveling from Howrah JN to Varanasi JN on Feb 25 General Quota. I looked in the "waitlist explained" link provided but could only find info on RAC 1-4. It also said that RAC permits me on the train. I remember sleeping on the floors between the cars next to the toilet and sink where people were vomiting and splashing me during the night and want to be sure that doesn't happen again. Am I correct to assume I will get a berth when the chart is prepared, and to just keep checking pnr status prior to that? It's been 15 years since I've been to India but the sensations are already returning. Thanx.

Great! Thanks for the info. Steven. Luckily, we are in Jaipur now and will be able to go to the foreign tourist reservation window at 8:00am tomorrow. Whew. We're OK with either option you suggested.

One more question though. How do you know there is still availability for the FTQ? I looked up those options on the irctc website and I only saw the regular tickets were waitlisted as well. I can't find any information on the FTQ numbers. Hmmm. Diff website? Insider info? Thanks again, you guys are lifesavers for those of us navigating this system for the first time.
