Looking for a rail connection from Tirupati to Mysore, I've found this "strange" train:

214 MYSORE PASS TIRUPATI 21:35 - MYSORE 10:45
213 TIRUPATI PASSR MYSORE 17:00 - TIRUPATI 5:00

It's "strange" for several reasons: it doesn't appear in www.erail.in (which actually gets its data from www.indianrail.gov.in); it has FC Class (no AC classes, only FC and SL); it has a validity period from 0-0-00 to 31-12-2019 (!); it seems more a Passenger train than and Express (see also its name), it's very slow and it seems to stop almost at every station, but it's bookable...

I know that maybe the same route with a connection in Bangalore can be faster, but taking into account the time to change train maybe it's not so better... and the trains from Tirupati to Bangalore come from far away, so they could be late.
I'm really curious to travel in FC class. Is there someone who has experienced this train? Above all, what about the non-AC class in April? Too hot?

By the way, I have changed my plans for my next trip, and it will be in the first part of April (and in the South) now...

For some unknown reason, erail isn't showing any passenger trains lately.

The train does exist, I saw it on Tirupati station in December.

I love First Class (FC) and think it will be fine in April, esp. the Bangalore-Mysore section.

Have you maybe seen the composition of this train? I have tried to check the availability of berths in FC, and I have found another strangeness of this train: searching almost the whole ARP, I find that there is a maximum of 14 berths available on the leg Tirupati-Mysore (and this number tends to become constant everyday searching toward the end of ARP), while there is almost always an availability of 6 berths on the leg Mysore-Tirupati.
Apart this, hos can have a train have only 6 or 14 berths available in one class? Is it only a small part of the coach reserved to FC?

I have always been looking for FC class searching for train connections in India... this is the first time I find it, I am really very tempted to try it (though I'm a little bit concerned about the heat...). Have you tried it?

YES, I have tried FC in it, and always prefer it against overnight bus journey to Tirupati.

213/214 Mysore-Tirupati Fast Passenger, a scheduled daily train running since 1990's.

Train composition is 1 FC, 8 General and almost 6 II Sleeper coaches.

A full FC coach comprises of about 5 four-berth cabins & 3 two-berth coupe.

Don't worry much on the heat as this is an overnight train, and cooling fans should be more than sufficient.

Dear WDM2,

Is it 3 four-berthed cabins or 5?

It appears you are a diesel-loco fan.:-)

I took this train from Tirupati to Mysore in 2004. I generally travelled in AC3, but FC was nice - try it before it disappears off the Indian Railways. I took the train in September and it certainly isn't too hot. It goes via Bangalore.

FC coaches are composed with a mixture of 4-berth cabins and a few 2-berth coupe.

Yes WDM2 (ALCO based) is my most favourite loco when I compare it with anywhere in this world.
