My plane is due to arrive 1920 at Delhi Airport, internal flight. Ideally I would like to catch the 2150 (18101) train, what is the best way to get from the airport to DLI station in the 2 hours.
Thank you

Take the metro to NDLS station from the airport. Take an auto from NDLS to DLI. Or, just Uber/Ola it ! If you are two or more persons, Uber /Ola is more convenient and cost effective.

At that time of night you should be OK if you donít waste any time. I would take Ola or Uber.

What terminal are you landing on? Metro is walkable only from T3, the others are stepchildren.

Where are you travelling? 18101 would have travelled over 1,300 km by the time it arrives Delhi. It is a very low priority train that will travel through one of the most congested railway sections in India during the day before arriving at the capital, and is usually at least 4 hours late at Delhi. I would strongly recommend booking on a different train.

Also the metro goes to both main train stations so dont take auto.

Once at T3 Metro it takes about 45 minutes to get to the main station then 15 to get the next metro to your station.

By the way one of the train sites will give you updated info on train locations (it will state the time it left the last station. From this you can see how late it will be

I'm travelling from Aurangabad arriving Delhi Terminal 3.
My options are Overnight on the 18101 or hotel & train next morning. It would save me 1 night in a hotel & give me extra time in Amritzer.
Thanks for the replies

My thoughts were that the train 18101 could be running late too. While this may help you with getting to the station in time, I wonder if spending up to 4 hours at Old Delhi station at night is worthwhile?

I would book a cheap room for the night near NDLS and take the fast Shatabdi train to Amritsar in the morning, but then again, I am an old person, and not so resilient these days...

I understand this, but you need to realise the alternative is most likely going to be a sleepless night at Old Delhi station waiting for this train to show up. Looking at punctuality statistics on indiarailinfo, the average delay for this train at Old Delhi is 5 hours and 53 minutes (more than my estimate of 4 hours). If this happens on your date of journey (very likely) you will just end up spending a lot of time at one of the most unpleasant train stations in the city. It is also most likely that the train will end up reaching Amritsar around 12.30-1 pm. If you were to spend the night at a hotel in Delhi and take the following morning's Shatabdi (a punctual train) you will practically lose just about an hour in Amritsar.
