Hi,

I'm trying to get from Goa (currently in Palolem) to Rajastan on the trains.

Is it easier and quicker to go via Mumbia or directly to Delhi and to Rajastam from there from Goa?

Many thanks,

Willo.

It will be easier changing trains from Mumbai. Problem will be getting confirmed tickets for train travel. Check for trains between 2 stations using www.erail.in and book train tickets using www.cleartrip.com

Willo, you've made the classic mistake often made on the Internet, you've give members no useful information to work with, imagine someone asking if they can get a train from London to the coast, the simple answer is yes, but it's not a useful reply.

You don't mention where you want to go in Rajastan, what class you want to travel in, or even when you want to travel, so the really useful reply you'll be hoping to find when you return here, just won't be here.

You can get direct trains from Goa (Madgaon mostly) to Ahmedabad (for bus to Udaipur) Abu Rd (for Mt. Abu), Falna (for Kumbhalgarh & Ranakhpur), Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer (for Pushkar), Jaipur, Kota (for Bundi) or Bharatpur, you can also get a train direct to Agra or Delhi.

I'll assume you want to travel soon, and this is where you'll find a problem, last minute availability isn't easy on such long distance trains, we'd have done all the hard work and looked for you if we had all the required info, but in reality, you're probably best to go to one of the travel agents in Palolem and get them to work it out for you.

If you go via Mumbai, you lose time and money, 2 shorter singles are a fair bit more expensive than a longer single ticket, and then the travel agents booking fee is a flat rate, but charged per person, and per ticket, making the Mumbai option even more expensive, then if Tatkal tickets need to be used, you have the massive Tatkal charges doubled.

Have a clear idea of what you want and visit the travel agent, but you may need to consider flying as trains are pretty busy this time of the year.

Good luck.

If the OP can get to Mumbai there is still plenty of 3AC availability on the BCT - Jaipur Duronto departing 23.15 on Sunday 15th January.

Previous posts elsewhere have suggested that there are plenty of buses between Goa and Mumbai if no train is available.

As pointed out above this is guessing when the OP wants to travel, what class of travel and where he wants to go.
