# Garib Rath RAC , Will I get a seat?

I've travelled in garib rath multikple time, so I know that there are 3 berths in the side for garibraths.

My question here is, what it mean by RAC in garib rath ? Will I get a seat ? If yes , where (as there are 3 side berths)?

Trying to explain again.

There are 9 berths in a single cubicle (Including Main+Side Compartment)

Let us assume the berths are in the following order,

1 - LB

2 - MB

3 - UB

4 - LB

5 - MB

6 - UB

7 - SLB

8 - SMB

9 - SUB

The lower berths are thus numbered as 1 and 9 out of which 1 is the least number.

The next lower berths after 1 and 9 would be 10 and 13 out of which 10 is the least number.

The same follows for 19 and 22/ 28 and 31 out of which 19 and 28 are the least numbers.

The quantum of RAC Passengers is 3 for every coach of Garib Rath.

These 3 passengers are adjusted in the lower berth of any compartment of the coach, wherein the lower berth has the least number.

Considering the above example, 3 RAC Passengers would be adjusted at berth 1 and not berth 4.

The passengers having allotted SLB and SUB would be seated in the SLB, i.e. passengers having berth 7 and 9 would be seated at berth 7.

The passenger having SMB, i.e. berth 8 would be seated at berth 1 with the 3 RAC Passengers. The person having UB against the very same LB where the RAC Passengers are seated, i.e. passenger against berth 3 would also sit at berth 1 accompanying the 3 passengers having RAC + Passenger having SMB (Berth 8)

Thus there are now 5 passengers seated at berth 1. (3 RAC Passenger allotted berth 1 + SMB Passenger of berth 8 + UB Passenger against the same LB, i.e. berth 3)

On the opposite side, the 3 Passengers having LB, MB and UB, i.e. 4,5 and 6 would be seated together. The passenger having MB on the opposite side of the same main compartment, i.e. berth 2 would also be seated with them.

Thus the lower berth number 3 is having 4 passengers seated at day time, berth 3,4,5 and berth number 2.

Now the sitting position of passengers having berth 2 and 3 (LB and MB) against the same Lower Berth 1, where the RAC Passengers can be adjusted. Either of them can adjust at berth 1 and the other one at berth 3.

If RAC is not allotted at berth 1, it would be allotted at the next compartment, against the LB having the lease number. In this case it is berth number 10 (As explained above).

Till date, I have not seen any RAC allotment at any LB after berth number 28.
