Hello!

I'm having a bit of a dilemma here trying to book my train ticket. It'll be from Kolkata to NJP. The date is somewhere in end May, and I will need 3 tickets.

I've successfully registered to the IRCTC Site and I've searched for my desired train routes, however, I'm given two options:

Book a general ticket, however the status is general quota: PQWL/14 WL/9
- I've heard the PQWL is harder to progress down the wait list as compared to GQWL.

I also searched for the foreign tourist quota ticket and there are: 0002 AVAILABLE
- However, I require three tickets... The form however allowed me to input more than three passengers.

I am wondering if I should book my 3 tickets under the general quota, or under FTQ. I am just not sure if I do book the FTQ, how will my 1 other ticket be derived, will it be a normal wait list or?

What do you guys think is the most wise decision?

Sorry for my lengthy questions, hopefully someone will be able to help me out!

Thank you!

Booking the FTQ makes no sense since your third ticket goes to the standard waiting list.
What is the exact date and train with which you want to travel?

Hey, thanks for your reply! Here are my desired train details:

Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri (25 May 2018)

3 Tickets for class 2A or 1 A

Any of the trains that depart in the evening and arrive in the morning.
- Kamrup Express
- ‎Uttar Banga Exp
- ‎Kanchankanya Exp
- ‎Darjeeling Mail

--------------

New Jalpaiguri to Kolkata (28 May 2018)

3 Tickets for class 2A or 1A

Any trains that depart in evening and arrive in the morning.
- Darjeeling Mail
- ‎Padatik Exp
- ‎Kanchankanya Exp
- ‎Saraighat Express

All those trains are PQWL which I heard is less likely to become confirmed compared to GQWL.

May I also further ask a question:

Which would have a higher probability of confirmation?

GQWL55/WL38 OR PQWL15/WL9?

I have no idea about your waiting-list question.
If you are willing to travel 3AC the Kamrup express has 3 seats in the FTQ according to this erail-site (you cannot book there)

Another option is a Volvo-bus, see this thread https://www.indiamike.com/india/kolk...iguri-t235372/

Thanks for the info on the Kamrup express FTQ. The IRCTC site does not have the 3AC option. How can I go about booking it then? You mentioned I cannot book via the erail site?

The IRCTC site is leading, if it does not show this option then the information on Erail will be false.

There are seats available in Shatabdi express. However that train reaches NJP in the night and you will to stay in a hotel at NJP.
