do get it changed by editing your profile on IRCTC's website. I hope it is possible and without any problem.

ive never seen an address on an e-ticket.

am looking at a ticket i booked for last month. chennai to bangalore. booked on cleartrip. My address is nowhere on the ticket. are you sure youre looking at the actual e-ticket? and not the receipt or invoice from cleartrip.

These days they do not even need printed tickets. per feedback you now only have to show the booking confirmation sms and friends with smart phones have gotten by with just showing that part of the e-ticket on the screens that has the pnr no on it.

you dont even need tickets anymore. the names (and i suppose age and sex) on the tte's sheet and your proof should match.
meh...

They are now printing the address too. Earlier the mobile number used to be mentioned. From Oct, the address is also there.

Supposedly to prevent agents and others from booking and then reselling them. If they know which tickets are getting misused, they know which accounts to block and where to catch them (if the address is right).

I think, the one thing that the railways will need to focus more on is to create more capacity. These issues will then disappear slowly. Increasing speeds, Higher capacity coaches, dual lines where single exist are some ways.

Narendra previously i used to think like that.but i called irctc and asked them that can i book tickets for others and they said yes and then i asked that my address is printed and if i give to others then.they said it will not be of any issue and of no problem .address is being printed because if any accidents occur in trains or any mishap then they can contact the person via phone number of referring in address and tell that accident has occured and for ur kind info previously in june 2011 accident occured and the railway people could nt find the people phone number of address to inform.
I dont know why u people answer without knowing the correct answer.dont tell false things plz.

What's false about what I have said in previous posts.

As far as accidents and tracing family of victims are concerned, pl note that they already have all details on their system for all IRCTC customers. As part of Registration on IRCTC one is supposed to provide name and address as well. So they can trace you directly from the system than to look for a piece of paper in an accident victims pocket/purse/where ever.

The fact about not allowing to book for others is from a commercial perspective. You are ALLOWED to book for other members of family/Friends/relatives or whoever as long as you know who they are and are doing it as a non commercial deal.
