I had been planning to go Mumbai Bijapur in 1st class (FC) this Jan but I noted that FC was fully booked 60 days out. Now I see that there is no bookable 1st class. Is 1st class on its way out? Any nice overnight journeys in FC from Mumbai?

When I was in India in 2003, I noticed that there were few First Class cars; I mostly travelled 2-tier AC

Are you talkin about First Class AC or non-AC First Class. The non-AC First Class has I believe been discontinued.

i actually hate the ac option - gets so stuffy and it's really terrible if there are any extended stop overs or delays - coz there's no ventilation - or maybe it's just psychological... so, yea, i'm not too happy with there being very limited non-ac choices for first class sleepers, right?

Yes, I was referring to non-AC 1st class. I wanted to travel in this class before it completely disappeared.

I realize that it is not very practical/popular in India to travel non-AC. But I plan to travel in Jan so it should be cool enough without AC.

I remember 2nd sleeper as we travelled through Nagpur in 44 degree C !

yes FC is on its way out..its available in Mumbai locals..and I have not seen it anywhere else..

In Rail discussion earlier on this forum, experts did tell us that there are still a few trains with them..but very few indeed..

I booked an FC this year from Ernakulam to Chennai. On checking I do find several long distance trains from and to Chennai with First Class still.

Those stories are believable, a bit like the "Don't go to India, it's full of beggars, poverty and criminals"

Now, go back and read the replies in your other thread, because if you keep using slang talk you will be banned.
