I have booked an e-ticket at irctc website. we want to cancel the ticket of person whose photo identity is provided, but this will cancel the ticket of other members too.
Is there a way an e-ticket can be converted to I-ticket
or If the person does not travel whose photo identity card is mentioned, without canceling the ticket. Will it will affect other members travelling.
Please reply as the is for 2-11-2007.
Thanks in advance

As far as i know, the proof [ driving licencse etc] submitted at the time of booking should be carried along for cross verification by TT

Just for a quick reply.....

I'm 99.9% sure you can't convert e-tickets to I-tickets, also the person with the photo identity card isn't traveling, you'll have to purchase new tickets (after cancelling the other tickets).

You really have no option but to cancel the entire booking and re-book.

From IRCTC:
Quote:
If the Identity Card holder in the original
ticket is selected for cancellation, all the passengers in the ticket would have be cancelled and a fresh reservation
will have to be made, duly including the ID particulars of another passenger.
Unless, of course, one of the other passengers were to pretend to be the person whose particulars were provided - but that would mean carrying his/her identity card, which might not be convenient.

I too have read the conditions but was wondering if there was a way out
Can I change the Identity card holder by any chance?
will the TT throw me out if I travel with this e-ticket??
Has anyone ever had this situation, becoz its impossible to get tickets in this diwali season once i cancel them. Any ideas..
Thanks for the quick reply.

Dear Kanchan,

The E-Tickets CANNOT be converted into I-Tickets.
----
Since the Passenger, whose ID has been provided at the time of booking the ticket, the entire ticket would automatically get cancelled.
----
No impersonation, please!!!

Mr.Steven,

**You please issue an 'advice' to the IMErs when anybody wants any clarifications with regard to their journey, they MUST INVARIABLY INDICATE THE PARTICULARS INDICATED ABOVE AND THAT HALF-BAKED REQUESTS WOULD NOT BE RESPONDED TO.

Agree, however.

If you were to do a search for 'more details needed' on indiamike you'd probibly find about 500 posts where I've asked for more details.

I've also started many threads asking people to give more info, including the "How to get helpful replies to your transport/Itinerary questions." post I have under most of my posts.

It does drive me crazy that people don't offer more info, but these days, if there isn't enough info, I try to just ignore the post, even if I know I can offer useful info.

VSP, I'll be in Hyderabad at the end of November (29th/30th), it would be great to meet up. (then I'm going to Bhadrachalam-Rajahmundry)

VSP, I think you're being a little over-enthusiastic recently in your insistence upon further information.

I agree that there's an increasing number of forum members (mostly newbies) who ask for help yet offer few, if any, details that might help someone provide the information they need.

But a request such as this one, enquiring only about the general procedure to be followed when doing something, does not require any specific details about the train, surely?

Be Careful

Even if the person not travelling, please carry the original document of which reference has been gioven. My friend's wife had a Harrowing experience while travelling from Kolkata to Hyderabaed. She had to pay for the full journey

e-ticket will remain valid if it goes to RAC... you can not change your e-ticket into i-ticket in my opinion...
as you say if there is enough time for your travel then WL 3 should not be a problem..

there is no need to take print-out with last updated chartlist.... print-out with original booking status of the ticket is also fine...
you can probably write your confirmed seat/berth number just for your reference..

No matter when one takes the print out it would indicate the booking status and not the charting status.
