Hi All,

I am traveling to Howrah by 11th January. I will reach Howrah at 5.30 in the morning by Saraighat Exp. from Guwahati. My next journey is to Puri by the HWH-PURI Exp. at 10.30pm on the same day. So I want to keep my luggage at cloak room of Howrah station for the day. My luggage will be maximum two airbags.

So how much I have to pay for the luggage ?

But there is one more important issue. When can I collect my luggage ? Can I collect the luggage at around 9.00 pm. I want to go for local tours and have my dinner then will return for the outbound journey.

Is there any specific time table for railway cloak rooms .i.e. 10.00 to 5.00 as many of offices in India ?

So I want to deposit my luggage at around 7 or 8 in the morning and take it by the evening at 8 or 9 pm ?

Is it possible ? Please help me.

Thanks.

Hello Jhoti and welcome to indiamike.com

The cloak room at Howrah is 'open' 24 hours, though there will be 3 x 30 minute periods when it will be closed, these breaks will be displayed in or outside the cloak room.

I can't remember the charge, but it's a very small amount, maybe Rs10-15 per bag. (ask for a locker, maybe only Rs20 and both bags may fit in there)

All pockets (containing anything) will need to be locked, and you need to show the staff an inbound or outbound train ticket.

Thumbs up

It is possible. You can keep your luggage in the cloak room and take it back at your prescribed time. No problem. I cannot comment on the charges. Your luggage should be properly locked and have to show the train ticket (mainly your onward journey to Puri) to the cloak room staff. Puri Express will probably start from Howrah Station New Complex. Check it out.

After alighting from the train , ask a coolie for the cloak room and he will show you. Probably it is in Platform No. 12.

And finally, welcome to Kolkata.

Wow!

Thanks. A lot of thanks for the information. It was nice and really quick.

I will be traveling in 3AC from Guwahati and my Howrah-Puri ticket is also in 3AC. I think there are two types of waiting rooms in Howrah. Which waiting room can I use for freshen up as I have the 3AC tickets. I am not a regular traveler so I may be asking this dumb-type-of-questions. But I really need help as I do not want to go to a hotel for just one day stop.

Thanks again.
