Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any comments to make on how hard it is to get up to the top bed in 3AC, is there a ladder or just us the beds below?
thanks for Sam

Not much of a picture, but I guess you can make out the ladder.

In the 1960s the AC-1st compartments had ladders but the non-AC-1st didn't. Ladies were always allotted a lower berth. Upper berths were for lithe teenagers like me. I was an expert at the chin-up and vault required to climb on to the upper berth from the arm-rest on the lower berth.

I'm one of the clumsiest people you could ever meet - and I've managed a fair few times to get up to the top with no incidents (so far anyway!) Good luck, it is quite a climb, but it's lovely when you eventually get there, very rewarding..I imagine it's much like Sir Edmund Hillary felt when he got to the top of that little hill.
