The waiting list status of Gorakdam Express(Tain No 12556) from New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) to Gorakhpur (GKP) was WL87/WL67 and from Shakurbasti (SSB) to Gorakhpur (GKP) was WL4/WL2. I dint know why this difference exists as both the stations are 30 mins from each other. Nevertheless to maximize my chances of getting a confirmed ticket i booked an e-ticket from Shakurbasti. My doubt is... can i change my boarding point from Shakurbasti to New Delhi Railway Station. Once i read some where that it is not possible if the 2 train stations are from different railway zones. Please let me know if it is possible to change the point of boarding... Thank you

New Delhi forms an important station in this route and has thus been allotted a separate quota of its own. Shakurbasti, on the other hand shares the quota of Hisar, the originating station.

Since Shakurbasti is a relatively small station, I presume it would see its charting at Hisar. (Corrected).
Thus, you can change the boarding point from Shakurbasti to New Delhi, atleast 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train from New Delhi Station. (Not Shakurbasti because to my assumption, it would not see its own charting).

If you would have had booked the ticket from New Delhi, it would have had more chances. (According to me)

Do you mean to say that i have more chance of a Confirmed ticket if i booked the ticket from New Delhi Station. I dont get it because The current status from New Delhi status shows WL87/67 while that from Shakurbasti shows WL4/2.

Dipyamanbasu is correct. You can board from NDLS instead of SSB as distance (about 14 km) and time taken by train (about 30 min) are very less. No need to inform anybody in this regard.
This train runs upto SSB at HSR quota and then NDLS quota. You have booked your seat from SSB (means HSR) quota. Hisar quota is less than NDLS quota.
You will not find your name in NDLS reservation chart. Either go to TTE and ask him about it or check your PNR status at internet.
