Hi folks.
I booked a !st class sleeper for my family of 4 on the train from Thivim to Dadar KKK Express with cleartrip. I thought Dadar was the end of the line but now realise that it continues on an extra 7 kms to CST which is closer to our hotel. It doesn't make sense to get off at Dadar and organise another train, especially at 5 am in the morning with kids. Can we just stay on, or baksheesh the train guard or what?
Kind Regards
Dave,

I guess that you can stay on the train without any problems. The guy you need to "square away" is the TTE, travelling ticket examiner, who does a similar job to a guard.

Seems unlikley that anyone will have booked your first class berths for that last 7km, and you can always stand in the corridor if the worst comes to the worst!

Maybe do another "pretend" booking on cleartrip all the way to CST, to check that fare, it may not be any extra. If it is slightly more, then just offer that amount to the TTE when he checks your tickets.

When the TTE checks your ticket ask him to extend the ticket till CST. He will extend the ticket, take the difference in the fare and issue a receipt to you. You can show this ticket if you are stopped by a TTE at the platform in CST.

Thanks Guys, Planning a trip across India for a family of 4 with 2 teenage kids (boy & Girl) is a totally different dynamic from just going alone or with my wife. I know its important to go with the flow and let them experience and develop for themselves, I feel a great responsibility to keep them safe. Hence the need to plan and try to get it right. If one of them loses their passports for instance then 4 people have got a big problem. We arrive in Delhi then take 4 trains all around the place so I'll write a blog as I go or when we get back. I don't want to be a casual visitor here, more someone who can contribute and repay the help you've given me.
thanks again O&R and aarosh
