I bought a new grill for my stove, decided to trial it with a pork satay:

The grill gave a lovely char, served with chilli sambol, peanut sauce, coconut rice and salad (all home made):

WOW NB, that does look scrumptious.

Here's some homemade deserts for afterwards.

Rocky Road slice
Passionfruit mini cheesecakes
Pavlova
Chocolate Brownie slice.

My guess is the nearest banana plants to NB are in Cornwall. At least outdoors: Kew probably has some.

I remember banana growing in a park in Falmouth. They used to cover it in winter.

Eden Project, probably. Don't know if NB has a garden, but a tropical biome would make a great setting for eating, if not growing too, his food!

Is that because of the banana leaf ??under the rice on NB's photo ?

We can buy them in the Indian grocery/vegetable shops here.

I live in a remote region and it costs me around 3 pounds or so per leaf Rs 290 but In and around london it is only a fraction of this price .

I did try to order it online but it came in pieces.

I only buy it a few times a year either when i want to serve a sadya on a banana leaf for Onam or when i want to make
Meen Pollichathu ( fish wrapped in banana leaves )

Oh well, not worth going through customs with a guilty expression then!

"Banana leaves, Officer? I was told it was...."

Hmm, reminds me of the guy who was arrested for possession of a brown, crumbly substance. He was surprised when the cops told him he was free to go. "Lab report indicates that it was pure camel dung."

I love blueberry cheesecake, I made it once, as I was making it, I realized how much fat there is in it. It reduced my enjoyment by 90%.

Banana plants do grow in this part of France, but they don't produce fruit. Possibly worth trying in the UK, if all you want are the leaves.
