Hi all, and particularly those of you I had the pleasure to meet yesterday. What can I say? I wanted to leave after lunch but stayed with the others until my train left at 9 pm. That says it all, doesn't it?

Freemanx - thanks for your report. It illustrates the day perfectly. I just LOVED it. And we were incredibly lucky with the weather. Would have been less fun to sit inside all the time.

P.S.: Reading that you and Mach crossed the bridge to the other side filled me with envy.. would have loved to stay longer and continue to enjoy the atmosphere of that balmy evening. Maybe next time.

Hey Golghar,

me thinks we'll have to do some serious "accustoming-to-German-beer-habits" lessons when we meet next time.
But no worries, we'll work on it and get you there.

Thank you Wildhorse,

your words are creating a big on my face.

And btw, you having missed out on the last part can only mean on thing for sure - we have to meet again to make good for it.

Cheers and take care and who knows, maybe our paths cross when you come to India...

Nice one it was, wasn't it, folks. Let's do that again soon!

Some more pics from Köln (Cologne, then), city of water and history, of Catholicism and more churches than you could shake a mitre at, of open-mindedness and multiculturalism, of Kölsch beer and FC Köln, of the ravages of war and rebuilding and a vibrant street culture, of quaint little alleys and imposing buildings old and new, and, not lastly, of some of the sweetest hosts:

1) landmark Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom); 2) Eigelsteintor, 13th-century city gate; 3) 250-years-old Brauhaus Em Kölsche Boor, one of many a classical brasserie (as well as modern joints; this one claims to be one of the elder in town) serving that evil local Kölsch beer (this city of a million people is said to have more pubs per capita than any other German town!), one of which that Freemanx happily gave me along for home I'm sipping even now, prosit ; 4) View over the river Rhine, from near to the Dom Cathedral and the Altstadt (old city).

Go ahead! I can't send you a personal message yet. We could have a meetup at Wuppertal.
