Hi

I am very curios and worried at the same time. I have booked a sleeper bus from Bangalore to Goa in about 2 weeks from now, on which I booked 2 seats next to each other for my girlfriend and I. Only after the booking I realised that this may just be an issue, as I am aware that India is not OK with these kind of things (male and female sharing a sleeper). Can anybody please advise me as to whether this is fine or will I have problems on the bus? I need to know quite urgently as I would obviously have to change my ticket if it's not acceptable.

Thanks a lot

It is NOT an issue as long as local rules on public decency are followed. You don't need to change your tickets.

You definitely don't have to do that for sure!. Also,I believe that route from Banglore to Goa is tourist friendly, as most of them would be urban travellers. You won't have any issues.

No worries....you will see that half the bus has male and female partners together as you are ....even the indian railways has cupey (a closed room) for honeymooners...anywhere in the world this is acceptable.

You mean 1st A/C Cupey?. You need to book that in advance, especially during the holiday season. I've never travelled in those, so can't advise. Not sure whether you can book it for just 2 people.

I wonder if they still exists! Recall seeing them in old bollywood movies from the 70's or 80's

And I wonder why is the OP so inclined on a having his own compartment.

I hope you have booked your private room in Goa for the privacy you need.

I have not seen them in the irctc list while booking...also the cupey is there only in certain trains...one example is in Chennai Nilagiri Blue Mountain express

If you are not too noisy and can fit in the sleeper berth in the positions you desire. Then just put the curtain down and enjoy the short time.

And I am sure you will have some interesting story to post after the bus travel.
