Smile Is August a good time to visit Ladakh?

Hi , Me and a couple of friends have been planning a ladakh trip this year but I read that in August the monsoon sets in and the roads turn mushy and it would be a little risky visiting that time. Is that true?
We are planning the first or second week of August. Our planned destinations are Leh, Nubra & Pangong.

I was in Ladakh last year end Aug to Mid Sept, the weather was excellent, no rains or snow. I think post mid August the weather is mostly ok but predicting monsoons specially in hills is always a challenge

Hi Ajinkya,

We decided on manali - leh - manali. However, since the dates match we do not mind considering srinagar - leh - manali. Could u pls share ur itinerary and some more info on the number of people? Are u guys hiriing bikes or riding ur own? We need to hire. So round trip to return the bike.. Cheers.

Hi Anu,

I don't think August should be a bad time. Infact myself thought the same before i got to read blogs by people who have done leh during august. Monsoon hits true but like ajinkya said, u just cant tell. Just need to be prepared. We will witness all sorts of weather Are you all planning a bike trip?

Hey Chris

We are a couple too, looking to have a more relaxed trip Manali to Manali sometime in August.

I've been doing the circuit for 7 years now. But nothing planned yet for August. How does your itinerary look?
