Hi,

I would love to go there for sure, infact I was planning on this last October but missed out due to some reason. Can you throw some more light on how many days we would need, what kind of stuff to carry etc.

Thanks.

Itinerary

Hello Rathee,

Gochela trek will take about 9 days from NJP. We can reach yaksom via gangtok also, but jorthang route is shorter. the itinerary may be as follows..

Day1: NJP -> Jorthang -> Yaksom
Day2: Yaksom -> Tsoka
Day3: Tsoka -> Dzongri
Day4: Dzongri -> Kokchurang -> Lamune
Day5: Lamune -> Goecha La -> Samiti -> Kokchurang
Day6: A day in hand
Day7: Kokchurang -> Pedang -> Tsoka
Day8: Tsoka -> Yaksom
Day9: Yaksom -> NJP

You can also explore other itinerary in similar threads. However the trekking route is same.
Recently Sikkim Govt. has restricted trekkers form camping at samiti-lake and crossing the glacier. Hence the last day trek is very tedious.

Please let me know your views & opinois about the trek also.

Hi,

That looks fine to me. Infact, I explored quite a bit about this trek last year when I had a tentative plan to visit Sikkim. For me, the itinerary is ok.

What I want to know is if we have any experience trekker in the group with us because I haven't trekked much apart from mild hikes. Also, do we have to arrange the equipments on our own or can we rent them in Yuksom?

Dont worry!

Our group consists of two people and itíll be three including you.
Actually we were associated through indimike itself only a few weeks back. Thanks to indiamike..
Yes, my partner (id:shephherd) is experienced enough to do the trek. He has done 4 treks earlier. So donít worry about our competency, and be confident enough to do it.
Even I donít know whether the trekking equipments/gears will be available at yuksam or not. Otherwise we have to carry it all the way.

And one thing more... are you flexible with your dates? I mean if we plan to pre-pone the trek to april will you be able to manage it?
Please let me know your thoughts in this matter.

thanking you,

We are doing the Goechala Trek starting from Kolkata on 21st April. We are five guys in the group, so if you are interested in joining us, please PM me your email or phone number.
The trek is moderate, and requires 5-6 hours of daily walking in the mountains. As long as you are physically fit and have enthusiasm, you can complete the trek well. It is not essential that you need prior experience in trekking.
The cost of the trek is coming to Rs 6000 per head Kolkata-to-Kolkata basis.
