Can anyone tell me how long it should take from the airport to New Delhi railway station via the metro (ie including metro station to railway station)?

From exiting the airport to entering the railway should take you an hour at the most, probably less. The Metro journey is about 30 minutes, but it depends on how long you have to wait for a train.18 months ago it cost 60 rupees.

If this is your first time in India be aware that the traffic between the metro exit and the station is challenging.
The metro station at the ND station for the metro system proper is total chaos,or was the only time I ever went .It may take you longer to buy a token than your journey.Other than this the metro in Delhi is great and easy to use.

Nizamuddin station still doesn't have a metro link though it is scheduled to get one soon (December 2018?).

Go to the Wikipedia link at the bottom of the page.

Your best bet is to take a taxi. It depends on the time of the day.

Yes, agree with Golghar that taxi is the best option at the moment.

But if you have the time and want to save a few rupees and have some extra train travel fun then you can do the following:

1. take the Delhi Metro from the Airport to the New Delhi Railway station
2. from the New Delhi Railway station (NDLS) take a train for the short 8 km journey to the Nizamuddin railway station (NZM)

and there are many trains between NDLS and NZM

Many thanks for this. A great map - the others I've found online have been too small and indistinct to read.

Any idea how long it might take by taxi to Nizamuddin and the likely cost?

Thank you this is reassuring (apart from the exit!)

We will have max 3 hours between landing and train departure (either ND or N) and are trying to decide on which train to book. We've been to India numerous times but try to avoid Delhi

Thank you for this. But as the objective is to leave Delhi asap I think we'll pass on the excitement of the roundabout journey!

Which of the Delhi railway stations does your train depart from?

Hi.

We have a choice - either ND or N. Either would be convenient in terms of destination and arrival time and each gives us around 3 hours from touch down to departure.
We just need to take the plunge and buy the tickets....

Hi aarosh

Train to Kota jnct for Bundi to start then Jaipur; Bikaner; Jaisalmer; Jodhpur; Udaipur. It's not our first trip by any means - either to India or to Rajasthan - but in the past we've just arrived and then moved on at will. This time - for various reasons - it's all planned but I was beginning to get worried about catching our first train!
I've looked at your post re Mt Abu and we will try to fit that in from Udaipur as it looks lovely.

There is a train 29020 Dehradun Express which departs from Nizamuddin at 21:50 and reaches Bundi at 09:15. This should be a good option.

If you planning to visit Mt. Abu spend a night there. Visiting Mt. Abu as a day visit from Udaipur would be very tiring.

I donít have the answer for you, but your question - without any indication of the approximate time of the day when you need to make this trip - is unanswerable because of too little information. The travel time from the airport to any part of Delhi varies a great deal depending on the time of travel.
