Hi anybody,

I am trying to book a train trip online from Mumbai station to a station in Goa, but am having great difficulties. Ideally I would like to stay in a guest house for 2 weeks in the Anjuna/Arambol area, so I guess, I need to book my train to arrive at a station near to there???????????? Please can someone get back to me and also what kind of train should I take? I'll be arriving in Mumbai at 7am on 3rd May and I'd like to catch a train the following morning to Goa.
Any suggestions on reliable budget accomodation close to the train station(mumbai) who will be fine with signing for our tickets to be deliverd by courier.

Any advice will be much appreciated.........

Thivim is closest to Anjuna/Arambol. Have a look of Steven's train information.

hi indiafreedom, welcome to Indiamike!

The Konkan Railway has it's own plan for purchasing on line and it might be of interest to you as it does not require a local address for ticket pickup and you would be able to leave the night of your arrival:

1. Only available for a 3ac ticket on train #0111, the Konkan Konya Express which departs Mumbai at 2300 and arrives in the morning. The train stops at Pernem station (which is closest to Arambol) as well as Thivim which is closest to Mapusa and Anjuna.

2. the fare for this is 1250 rupees; while the normal 3ac fare is around 800 rupees, the convenience might be worth it for you if you were planning on travelling in this class anyway.

3. the details and booking instructions can be found here:

http://www.konkanrailway.com/website...eservation.htm

you might still want a place to kick back for the day - there are some options in the hotels section -- many choices in the Colaba area and this is only a short taxi ride to the station. You could also store your bag, or get a 'retiring room' at the station.
