So the heat is starting to get a bit rough and we are planning a run to the hills. Since we are in Orissa, we were thinking of going to Sikkim, but would like advice regarding this and other possibilities.

If we leave in about two weeks, will it be too rainy in Sikkim? Other than Darjeeling, is there any place else on this side of India that has a nice climate this time of the year - i.e. realtively cool and not raining all the time.

Thanks!

Is there nobody out there that can recommend where to go (besides Darjeeling and Sikkim) in Eastern India to escape the heat?

HI there,

Try going further east... you can try SHillong and Cherrapunji in Meghalaya and/or also Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. If the rainly season has already started there, then Tawang may be difficult, due to landslides.

I realise it's a bit of a trek from Orissa but what about Arunachal Pradesh somewhere of the beaten track and I think you may be Ok with the weather as the rains are patchy throughout the year! Though May to September are the wettest months!!
Just an idea here's the link to the tourism website!!

Hi,
I do not know the details of Bhutan but thought that probably you’ve collected some info about the place and we will share the knowledge.

Anyway, $200 a day !!!! Is there some one from Bhutan in IndiaMike?

I can remember “Rick” was the IMer from Bhutan and he is the best person I think who can help us regarding Bhutan. Once he was talking about Sandakphu trek, let me search the thread.
