I think we need a running thread where anyone can post on the good and bad places to eat in anywhere in India. Information about where and what to eat, for example in Delhi or Jaiselmer or Nagpur or the special dhabba on the highway to Chandigarh could be of tremendous interest for Indian traveler. If I am new to Indore, it would be helpful to know where to get good food or which restaurant to avoid.
Like there is a dhaba called Adarsh Dhaba, near Fatehpuri in Chandni Chowk in Delhi, where you can get excellent Vaishnavi food, all vegetarian thali for Rs.50/.
Similarly, I am sure there would be many out there who can contribute specific information about what and where to eat in any particular town or village.
What do you guys think? Will there be many contributions to this thread?

Jhilmil is good for their paranthas and curd.
I was talking about a little dhabba just outside Ambala. It is run by a young sikh fellow. His mango pickle is absolutely homemade and delicious.
Have you ever eaten at Giani ka Dhaba at Dharampur. His kheer is just yummy.

Nothing as specific as restaurant recommendations, but my favourite states have been the green (or should that be red) ones: West Bengal and Kerala. They both do marvellous things with fish; the southerners favouring coconut preparations, and the Bengalis giving some heat.

Here is one I recommend, listed amongst many other restaurants around the country.

The Haveli, on the GT Road between Jalandhar and Phagwara, is clean, has good food and service. There is also a small museum there of Punjabi culture and traditions.

Actually, it is Zil Mil...in Karnal...around three of them with the same name but the original or rather the best of the lot is the one which has an A/c section.

The one that I know of is Puran Singh da Dhaba...next to the Ambala flyover so you have to get around the flyover and take the side road onto it...many there with the same name but the original is the one at the back...hygeine be damned but they still served a mean mutton curry two odd years back.

Alas no ! Delhi Haat has it but it's not quite what they make in Rajasthani homes....never acquired a taste for it, btw.

No, sorry, we don't.

It is absurdly hugely ridiculously general and, past the first page of posts, will become of no use to anyone.

Please feel free to contribute the same for any specific area or city in the appropriate forum; that way the information will be available to people who need it.

Believe me, someone who wants to know where to get a Biryani in Coimbatore is not going to search through a thread called Where to Eat in India.
