Hello everyone!

I'm currently planning a week-long side trip alone from August 6th to August 12th (dates flexible) leaving from Bangalore.

I've spent the last three weeks in Karnataka - so far it has been wonderful - as well as Delhi and Agra.

I initially was thinking of going to Kolkata - BodhGaya - Varanasi, but I have heard different concerns about the monsoon and timing. Is this schedule really doable?

Alternatively, does anyone have any other ideas for how to spend the week fruitfully?

Thank you!

Great suggestion, but we were already at Bandipur and Coorg earlier this month. Absolutely amazing, especially after the lucky tiger sighting at Bandipur! I was hoping to see something a bit further out since my dates are more flexible.

A week is good enough to visit Hampi-Badami-Aihole-Pattadakal (about 4-5 days) and possibly a trip to the Chitradurga fort on the way back. If you've been there and would like to get out of karnataka, I'd strongly recommend considering the Golden triangle of Odisha (Konark-Bhubaneswar-Puri). See this report and this one too by trisha (relatively recent).

Last year, in July, I went to Bhopal area for 4 days (three and a half really) - see my signature please for the report. It can easily be supplemented with Mandu, Maheshwar and Omkareshwar with a hired car and driver. Very different lay of the land and monsoon is the perfect time - the area is lush green. Some sightseeing efforts will be hampered by the rains but I enjoyed it.

Another option is to consider Ajanta-Ellora-Aurangabad-Lonar (good for 4 days), add Sula Vineyards (nasik) and Triambakeshwar, and you're pretty much set.
