Dear friends,

I would like to divide in 2 sections the route between Almora an Rishikesh for 1 or 2 nights towards the end of January 2019. Traveling solo via public transportation. May I please have your ideas and/or suggestions?
Gratefully,
Sevananda

Unorthodox and slower but consider going through Gwaldham. Rishikesh-Gwaldham-Almora. You can do stops as based upon interests...

Stop Between Almora and Rishikesh

Dear friend Kmalik,
Thank you very much for your suggestion. The thing is that I want to be able to split the traveling distance between Almora and Rishikesh in equal or as equal time as possible. Perhaps I was not too clear. I believe that it takes about 8+ hours from point to point. I want to be able to stop in the middle of the journey, about 4 hours pass Almora and another 4 hours until Rishikesh, but it doesn’t have to be exactly 4 hours. I hope that I am making myself more clear now. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
Very grateful,
Sevananda

To be honest, I am not entirely sure of the right spot. I am definitely clueless about the public transportation side. The shortest route is through Nainital - Kaladungi - Ramnagar - Dhampur, etc. However, I suspect that's not the best way with public transportation. Others will know more, but I'd guess that you might be better off coming to Haldwani. From that route - the mid-point (time and not distance wise) might be Ramnagar or Kashipur.

That said, I don't think your estimate of 8 hour of travel time is good. We went from Haridwar to Binsar (a bit further) in a private car and it took us more than 8 hours. You might get a share taxi to Haldwani but will likely be traveling by bus after that. So, I doubt if your travel time will come close to 8 hours.

Anyway, your query is quite outside my competence and it's best that I leave to more experienced folks. All the best!
