Hi

I am planning a trip in Southern India (excluding kerela) to visit during mid of August this year for 6 Days 5 Nights. We are 4 people including my parents and my brother.

We will be availing LTC facility and hence it is not necessary that the flights to and from destination should be same.

We are aiming at a comfortable relaxing trip and therefore want to travel only 3 places approx in total.

I had looked up options for Mysore Ooty kodaikanal, and researching on the same, any better options are welcome. Please also suggest the mode of travel between cities and within city. Will it be expensive, if we would want to hire a indigo/any other car for the entire journey?

The subject line says "coastal" and Mysore, Ooty and Kodai are not exactly coastal :-)

You can try Chennai - Mahabs - Pondy or Madurai - Rameshwaram

BTW, you may do Delhi (by air to) Bangalore (by road to) Mysore (by road to) Ooty (by train to) Mettupalayam (by road to) Coimbatore (by road to) Kodaikanal (by road to) Coimbatore (by air to) Delhi.

They are not exactly "East" either.

Indeed, that would East Coast. The first suggestion is all within a three-hour drive. I suppose Madurai is doable as a drive, I'm not sure --- but Rameshwaram is a long way from Chennai, isn't it something like 19 hours on the train?

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your replies. Yes I admit that the subject line is a little confusing. So let me restate my questions.

Trip Details: Delhi to Coimbatore to Mysore (1 night) to Ooty (2 nights) to Kodaikanal(2 nights) to Madurai( for taking flight back home) to Delhi.
Time: Mid of August
Concerns: What would be the weather like?, Will we need to find hotel rooms with AC - for each location?
Is there any other airport which we should opt for ( to or from ) ?
From where can I reasonable and reliable cabs, and how much would it cost me, approx price for interstate transfers. 4 of us would be travelling, including my parents, so I looking for a comfortable journey for them

Your plan is criss-crossing same routes.

Hence I suggest Delhi (by air to) Bangalore (by road to) Mysore (by road to) Ooty (by train to) Mettupalayam (by road to) Coimbatore (by road to) Kodaikanal (by road to) Madurai (by air to) Delhi.

You dont need AC for Kodai and Ooty.
For Madurai, you can fly into Trichy Airport in case nothing's available for Madurai.
