Hello all,

I'm bringing some friends to India in April. I've done the usual touristy spots and am looking for somewhere different to go.
Our itinerary has us starting in Delhi, then down to Agra, then back to Delhi to fly to Kolkata.
We have a day or so to spare and I'd love to fit in something I haven't seen before (I've been to the above and Varanasi, Jaipur, Shimla...).

Can anyone suggest somewhere new that could be close enough for a one night trip from where we're going? A quick search brought up Mathura. Looks interesting. We don't need big sights just somewhere we can hang out and see what another town is like. A river and some ghats would be great.

Does anyone know anywhere else, maybe between Delhi and Agra that I could look up?

Thanks

Thanks everyone ! All the suggestions look really good from my initial research. Looking forward to trying somewhere new. This will be trip 19 but I only really know the Northeast.

Yes Bhartphur is lovely.Kaledho bird park is a wonderful place to spend the morning. Its only 40 minutes to Fatephur Sihkri by bus. A walk around what remains of the walls is also very pleasant. Please excuse my spelling.
