Starting in (and returning to) Delhi, what would be the most logical way to get round these destinations over a 13/14 day period using trains (preferred) and buses and spending a couple of days in each place?

Jaisalmer/Bikaner/Osiyan/Jodhpur/Ranakpur/Udaipur and a side trip to Kalka/Simla

Should I strike any of these from the list in order to spend more time at another place?
Many thanks,
Jeff

Don't try and do everything, I am always amazed at what I call the American tourist syndrome... Two weeks is not long, stick to Rajasthan and try and visit some of the places mentioned, moving on when you are happy to do so...

Start from Udaipur. Stay there for 2-3 nights; visit Chittaur one day.
Then proceed to Jodhpur; visit Ranakpur en route.
Stay at Jodhpur for 2-3 nights. Visit Osiyan one day.
Proceed to Jaisalmer; stay there for 2 nights.
Next visit Bikaner; stay for 2 nights. Return to Delhi.

Difficult to include Shimla/Kalka as for the other places you need about 10-11 days. Try to incorporate one or more places in Rajasthan only. Like Jaipur/Pushkar/Ajmer or Mt. Abu/Dilwar Jain Temples/Kumbhalgarh Fort/Nathdwara Temple.
Thanks,
Deep

Many thanks.
I understand there's no direct train link between Jodhpur and Udaipur. Is there a daily bus service in both directions?

There are daily bus services between the two, the problem would be visiting either Ranakpur / Kumbhalgarh. Do an enquiry to see if you could get buses from Ranakpur / Kumbhalgarh to either Udaipur or Jodhpur

Anybody any comments on the relative merits of Pushkar and Bikaner - I'm thinking of dropping Bikaner in favour of Pushkar.

My opinion is both are worth a overnight stop (reaching some where in the afternoon and taking an overnight train to the next destination the next day).
So any one would do.

Is there a recommended site for checking buses?
Can you book tickets online?
Thanks

Rajasthan - more requests for trip advice

Hi All,

My cousin and I are planning the following itinerary put together after reading comments, suggestions, threads on India Mike. I'm going crossed eyed reading! Thanks for all the great stuff folks!

Would appreciate if someone could comment on our suggested itinerary:

Day 1&2 Delhi
Day 3 Agra
Day 4&5 Jaipur
Day 6&7 Ranthambhore national park
Day 8 Bundi
Day 9&10 Pushkar
Day 11&12 Udaipur (with a side trip to Ranakpur)

Also, has anyone heard of Vacationtravel.net - if yes can you comment on thier service? We are thinking of booking with them. If anyone out there has recommendations or experience I would appreciate hearing your views.
Thanks
C
