Hi All

Let me start by saying hi to all of you. I am fairly new to the forum so if I break any rule please let me know.

Now coming to my reason of joining India Mike. I am a 28 years old girl living in Delhi and after years of pleading my parents have finally allowed me and my sisters to go on a solo all girl only trip (YAY!!!!). Since you can all imagine this is our first trip alone we are pretty clueless as to almost all the things.

We are planning to visit HP/ Jammu or maybe Uttarakhand somewherearound January end or early February for a week or so. But I am apprehensive that it may get a too cold and stuff.

Any advice as to places to visit or any websites which may help us in planning our itinerary will be highly appreciated. We are aiming at being close to the nature yet include some adventure sports in the trip, if possible.

Please advice what can be the best places to go, best time and any recommendations for decent hotels will be cool.

So looking forward to hearing from you guys to help us girls plan our first trip.

Thanks

Uttarakhand will be a good start. You could go to Kumaon (right, ananda? ).
2 nights each at Mukteshwar, Binsar and Chaukori is one possibility. If you are ready to hire a car for the whole trip (Kathgodam to Kathgodam) you have more flexibility along the way. Otherwise you can still get around quite comfortably with public transport (except for Binsar, you'll have to hire a car from Almora for that). Delhi to Kathgodam and back is easily done by train or deluxe bus.

It wil certainly be cold so carry your warmest clothing. However accessinility to the a.m places shouldn't be a problem as they are almost never snowed out.

For accom, check out the govt owned KMVN properties, thet are quite decent.
