Hi everyone!

You were all kind enough to help my girlfriend and I have a trip of a life time in 2015. We travelled from Northwest India down to the sub-continent's southern most point. It was remarkable.

I am here again to ask all your advice on finally seeing the parts we missed out, and a little more besides that.

We have around 38 days in August next year and I very much want to see Eastern India, parts of Nepal and Sri Lanka. I realise this isn't a great deal of time, so we will have to choose carefully where we go. I can see us travelling between 26 July-3rd Aug.

We have to go around August as that is the only time I can get off work. I realise this isn't ideal owing to the weather.

A few questions spring to mind instantly.

Is it possible? A good idea?
In which order such we travel to avoid adverse weather?
We live in the UK. Which airport should we fly to, depart from?
Suggested itinerary?
Any other comments.

I truly look forward to reading everyone's thoughts.

Thank you

What would you mean by Eastern India?

To Aarosh's point, the east is a whole side of the country . I assume you mean north-east? As in Darjeeling/Sikkim/Bihar/Jharkhand etc?

If so, it may be worth looking at an overland crossing from Nepal as then you can fly in to Kathmandu (which will always need a stop from London anyway as no direct flights). Move across Nepal then cross at Kakarbhitta.

As for weather, no it's not ideal but you already know that. So go prepared for some rain, some delays and embrace it with a smile.

As for Sri Lanka, the good news is that there's always somewhere with great weather. What's the drive for Sri Lanka may I ask? With the amount of time you have, and bearing in mind weather I would suggest sticking to Nepal and North East India only with a flight in to Kathmandu and out of Calcutta.

You can think of a week in Meghalaya and check out the rain in Cherrapunjee at its greatest, along with the numerous waterfalls and caves.
