Hello Everyone,

Really need your help to figure my travel plans.

We will be arriving at Hampi by a midnight bus from Goa on 22nd Jan. We will only be there for about 3 days. Now, here stands the problem.

We need to be back on 26th Jan at about 9pm to Mumbai..after looking up various buses from Hospet to Mumbai, I found that the last bus that leaves Hospet is at 7pm and reaches Mumbai at 9am.

I really do not want to waste half of 25th travelling. Does anyone know a midnight bus from Hospet to Mumbai?

We also thought of heading back to Goa on the 25th and taking a flight on the 26th evening to Mumbai, but the flight tickets back are very expensive and hence didn't seem like a very feasible option. If, someone can help me with an alternative plan that would be amazing as well

Really appreciate the help.
Sam

How does leaving Hospet at 7pm .. “waste half of 25th travelling” ?

@oldindiahand because we will have to leave at about 5pm from hampi to hopset to begin with. That means we only get half a day to go explore on the 25th barring time for lunch and breakfast.

Also, since we wanted to make the most of 26th travelling as well but now we can't because of time issues, hence gutted at the thought of not getting to use 25th to our advantage.

Hampi to Hospet would be 15 minutes with an auto .. could even have time to watch the Hampi sunset and thereby fill a full day..

Or is there some other mysterious way of counting time.

Considering how poorly-connected Hospet is to most parts of South India, I'd be glad there even exists a direct bus to Mumbai in the first place. How leaving Hampi at 5 pm is a loss of 'half a day' I'm not really sure - anyway.

If you want to get out of Hampi later and still reach Mumbai on time, your best option will be to hire a taxi to Hubli and then take one of the early-morning bus services onward to Mumbai. Alternatively, you can take KSRTC's 11.25 pm service from Hospet to Belgaum (arriving Hubli 3.35 am) and transfer to Seabird's morning service to Mumbai (5 am). KSRTC's dropping point in Hubli and Seabird's pick-up point are unlikely to be the same, though.

Alternatively, take the Hubli - Chennai Express (#07324) from Hospet to Guntakal (Departs 11.30 pm, arrives 1.50 am) and transfer to the Udyan Express onwards to Mumbai (Departs 3.20 am, arrives 7.50 pm).

Worth all this trouble for possibly three extra hours of daylight in Hampi? Not really.

@oldindiahand what i'm trying to say is to begin with, i only have 3 days to explore hampi which is not enough. Hence i'm trying my best to accommodate my travel in the night so i can make the most of my trip, If you understand.

@aloke_m thanks for your suggestion.

Looking for someone to help me, who's visited hampi recently.

There is nothing to do in hampi after sunset.
You can watch sunset and then leave Hampi around 6.20 to 6.30pm and comfortably catch the 7pm bus from Hospet.

yep got that. Three days (start at sunrise) is enough for any tourist trap and 7 pm to 9 am is 'travel in the night' when in India.

Perhaps Bombay girls have short nights .. 3 am to 11 am ?
