HELLO

I'm planning to take my family to Kerala for my 30th birthday , 2 wks. I went on my own last year for 3 wks traveling around and love it!!

We will be a large group,,7 adults, one 3 year old and a 13 month old boy with Downs-syndrome....

Does any one have any advice on traveling with kids,, mostly on easy places to visit. As my nephew will be in a pram and will need a little extra help than most babies....

I'm looking to go end of feb. If any one can recommend some child friendly beaches??? I've visited Varkala and as beautiful as it is the sea is not child friendly,,,,

I'd love my family to have the great experience as I did!!

Any recommendations would be really appreciated!!
thanks in advance

Hello fi fi and family. Welcome to IndiaMike !

Most of the beaches around Kovalam are also quite treacherous. As you said, Varkala is known for its rough seas.

How about staying on the backwaters? This recommendation is by another IndiaMiker for a homestay on a lake:

See this thread for the source of that one:

Another homestay in the backwaters recommended on this forum:

See here:

Or you might consider going to Northern Kerala. Check out this place for example:

Hope some other IndiaMikers will be along with more help for you. Happy planning.

One more suggestion, for a village close to Varkala called Edava:
