Hi fellow india lovers,

will be heading to the beautiful South and have booked Allapey from 3-5th January. Would like to head to the beach afterwards and Varkala was mentioned as being a good spot.....maybe a few days there then want to head to Munnar.

Is Kottayam worth a visit, Kumily?? is there anywhere between /Munnar and Cochin? We will be flying back to bonny scotland on the 18th from Cochin.

Any suggestions/ideas appreciated. We are group of three and a bit rusty at travelling, last time we could book all our travel as we went but it seems essential to have everything organised before we go this time round.

thanks

Just a maybe too ambitious idea:
After Varkala continue South to Kanyakumari.
Next to Madurai then Periyar/Munnar and end in Cochin.

Hi Vonkla,

Thanks for your suggestions

Madurai was in the mix initially but thought we'd be shattered by then as have a pretty fast tour of the North planned and wanted to chill out a bit down South. The national park in Periyar is a must, looks amazing!!

What are the more experienced peeps thoughts on just booking as we go once we leave Allepey? That'd be from the 5th to the 16th when we reach Cochi? We're leaving on the 19th....its getting real!!!

thanks

The distances in Kerala are relative short so maybe bus is an option, see here for the state buses.
For the availability of train seats is etrain a good site.

Generally we are not interested in a specific hotel.
On the net/guidebook we search for a hotel in our price class and call them the day before we arrive. This works fine.

Thank you for that reassurance vonkla, my instincts are to just go with the flow and i'm a great believer that whats for you wont go by you and that we'll end up where we're meant to be.
