Hello

I am looking to take my family, 4 adults, on a very busy tour of India in October/November this year. My Wife and I have been before, but my Father In-Law and Brother In-Law have never been.

This will most likely be the one and only time that they will get to go to India, so i'm trying to fit in as much as possible.

Is the below itinerary too much or do-able?

Any advice would be very helpful

Thanks in advance

You know it is hectic so i will not comment on that.

The only improvement I see is to fly from Varanasi to Amritsar with just a stop-over in Delhi, see here

Thanks for the advice, I too was thinking about that.

Taking a look at the flights there seems to be one with Jet Airways, but with only a change of 30 minutes in Delhi i'm not confident our bags would make it. Otherwise, its aroun 3.5 hours change in Delhi with Spice Jet, waisting a full day when we could be seeing things in Delhi instead.

I see that you have 2 days, 1 night in Varansi, which seems too little considering you will have arrived on an overnight train - which may well be delayed.

Any chance of skipping Amritsar and just staying longer in Varanasi?

Just another idea.
Take the All SDAH express from Jaipur to Varanasi instead of Agra. You arrive early in the morning.

An overnight train from Varanasi to Agra.
And another overnight train from Agra to Amritsar

Which is the train from Jaipur to Varanasi. When I search for it, I don't think it goes to Varanasi?

The only train i can find between Jaipur and Varanasi is the Marudhar Express

The train that I mentioned runs to MGS (Mugal Sarai).
This station is about 25 km from Varanasi and has good connections with the town.

OK, i've reworked the Itinerary, removing Jodhpur, increasing to two nights in Varanasi, and using the direct train from Agra to Amritsar.

The only other option I was thinking to change was to just take the direct train from Jaipur to Varanasi Marudhar Express (14864), as the one to MGS always seems to arrive 3 hours late on average, and it would save the hassle of changing.

Does this look better? Any advice?

A taxi from MGS to Varanasi is about 550 rs. according to this site.

Very interesting, thanks for the help as always, will certainly take a look at that.

Other than that, what does the itinerary look like?
