I first want to thank this forum for the wealth of rich information that I could use to build my itinerary.

I am planning my trip for Nov 2008 and wanted some advice and help with my plan.
Here are details of my plan:

Nov 06, 2008 Pune to Katni (Train: 1037 reach 10:35 next day)
Nov 07, 2008 Katni to Bandhavgarh (by Road)
Nov 08, 2008 Jungle Safari in Bandhavgarh
Nov 09, 2008 Jungle Safari in Bandhavgarh
Nov 10, 2008 Bandhavgarh to Katni (by road)
Reach Jabalpur (Train: 1448 reach 16:05)
visit Marble rocks in the evening
Nov 11, 2008 Jabalpur to Nainpur (Train: NG002 reach 9:25)
Nainpur to Kanha (by road)
Nov 12, 2008 Jungle Safaris in Kanha
Nov 13, 2008 Jungle Safaris in Kanha
Nov 14, 2008 Kanha to Pench (by road or train)
Nov 15, 2008 Jungle Safaris in Pench
Nov 16, 2008 Pench to Nagpur Airport (by road)

Here are my questions:
1. Does anyone have any ideas about the chhindwara-nainpur narrow gauge train? I want to take this train from nainpur to seoni on Nov 14 from kanha to pench instead of going by road. Any suggestions on which is a better option (train or road)

2. I have a 2 year old son. Would he be allowed on the jeep and elephant safari. Any safety advices.

3. Suggestions for Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench hotels. Need something reasonable but with character, comfort and good food (contradictory requirements??? )

4. Any general advice on the itinerary.

Thanks for your help.

I was researching hotels in Bandhavgarh and wanted to get an opinion on which hotel is good for rooms, service, food and knowledgeable guides.
I was looking at Wild Haven Resort and White Tiger Lodge.

Any suggestions/help would be great. Thanks.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good place to stay in Kanha and Pench?

In 2005 we stayed in Kanha inside the park near the Kisli gate. We liked it and found it a wonderful experience.
The name is Baghira Log Huts.
We made a reservation a couple of days before when we were in Bhopal.

Just outside the Mukki gate is the then brand new Kanha Safari Lodge. We had lunch there and the manager showed us around. This also looked good.

Thanks Vonkla.

We ended up booking at Tuli on someone's recommendation. Hopefully it is good. I am now looking for hotels in Pench.

One more question I had is the mosquito situation in Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench during November. I am hoping that since it is winter, it shouldn't be too bad. Since I have a 2 year old, am trying play it safe with mossies. Any advice?

We also were in November and did not have any problem with mosquito's.

Indeed it is winter then and the nights are quite cold. So especially for the morning safari you need some warm clothing.
This starts about six o'clock just after dawn.
The temperature is below 10 degrees and you sit in open cars. It feels like freezing.

White Tiger Lodge - the food is good & it's the only hotel in Bandhavgarh with T.V. in rooms.

We had stayed at Maharaja Royal Retreat (5 mins from White Tiger Lodge on the main road) & was very much satisfied with stay but food was O.K. & used to take dinner at White Tiger Lodge.

Ronak.

We were thinking of booking at the Jungle Mantra in Bandhavgarh. Found some good reviews online and the facilities seemed pretty good. Here is the link:
