HI EVERYBODY!

We are planning to go to India during this August. I have been hanging around Internet and I realized that your are a sea of wisdom about India (some of your posts are just amazingÖ)

If you find some time to answer and advice us, we would really appreciate it, if you cannot, donít worry, I thank you for reading this message.

We have 3 weeks for our trip in India. Our main destinations are Delhi, Rajastan, Vanarasi and last few relaxing days for scuba diving.

- Is it necessary to book in advance the train or bus transport?
- Can you suggest any specific train or bus?
- Which is the best way to go from Vanarasi to Goa? Train to Delhi and then flight to Goa?
- I red that you know the best way to guarantee a night train coupe
- Itīs worth flying from Khajuraho to Vanarasi?

Once again, thank you for reading this email. I try to make it a short as possible.

Yikes that's a lot to pull off in three short weeks and in August!
My first thought is to just drop the Goa part of your trip, leave it for another time! Goa is nice in monsson I hear but for all the things you imagine Goa to be it's probably best not done in the monsoon!
Diving in Goa is pretty poor at the best of times, and in monsoon would be a complete waste of time!!
The next problem is the month of August the trains are pretty busy at this time of year so the sooner you get firm bookings for your destinations the better. the "train guys" here on IM will further advise you of this I'm sure
Lastly I would think about leaving out Jaipur and going straight from Jodhpur to Agra.
This will allow you a bit more time in Jaisalmer which really deserves more than a day especially after the exertion of getting there!!
Doing this will give you a feel for the places you visit and not leave you a shattered wreck from the actual travel which is tiring and can quickly wear you down!

Here are a few trains you could try but Steven and Shimla are the lads to set you straight on this!

Del-Jaisalmer
4059 DEE JSM EXPRESS dep DELHI S ROHILLA 18:13 arr JAISALMER 12:45

Jaisalmer-Jodhpur
4809 JSM JU EXPRESS dep JAISALMER 23:15 arr JODHPUR JN 05:15

Jodhpur-Agra
2308 JU HWH SUPFAST dep JODHPUR JN 17:15 arrAGRA FORT 05:35

Agra-khajuraho
U P SMPRK KRNTI dep AGRA CANTT 00:25 arr MAHOBA 06:10 (taxi from here!)

Khajuraho-Varanasi
1107 BUNDELKHAND EXP dep MAHOBA 00:10 arr VARANASI JN 10:25

Varansi-Mumbai
1094 MAHANAGARI EXP dep VARANASI JN arr 11:30 MUMBAI CST 14:25

You could of course fly this leg!!

I hope that helps!!

Absolutely I concur with cyberhippie. Too much for 3 weeks.
Skip a few things.
Make Delhi - Agra - Varanasi - Khajuraho - Jodhpur and Jaisalmar and back to Delhi.
Then to Goa (If you really want to). Go back to Mumbai only to fly back. Because you cant justify both Goa and Mumbai both. Or skip Goa and make it Mumbai for 3 days. Good enough.
Take care

I suggest

delhi-agra-varanasi- (khajuraho? is there a connection between both ends that can work?)-Jaipur-jaisalmer-jhodpur-mumbai-goa-mumbai

the (slightly) long trips will be Agra -varanasi -khajuraho-jaipur

and jhodpur-mumbai

so maybe you can explore flying to one(maybe Khajuraho/ jaipur) or two destinations.

I know, too many places... but I only have 3 weeks per year to see this huge beautiful world!! I need to think where I prefer to go...
However, is so important to book train tickets in advance during August? Is so busy??
How expensive could be to fly between Agra, Khajuraho, Vanarasi and Delhi?

Thanks for your answers!!! And nice web, Ciber!!

There are visit india fares from both Indian Airlines and Jet Airways.
For 300 to 400 dollars or so you can take several air connections within a week or so.
Check out their websites. Will let you know, If I get a chance to peek in those sites today.
Take care
